I got my dog checked for his eye with them and I’ve had the worst experience with the vet himself. From the get-go, Dr. Baker was already basically telling me I do not know how to handle my dog. He did not even introduce himself nor asked what I was there for. There was no warmth, just pure rudeness. He spent the first few minutes of the consultation fixated on how to handle and treat my dog. Mind you, I was giving my dog treats to calm him down and to listen to me in the waiting area before the consultation even started. He was saying that I need to stop giving him treats and just tell him what to do. I’m open to listening but he remained condescending and basically had to step on my dog’s leash and physically got him to sit or follow his commands. My dog was uncomfortable during the consultation. His tail was between his legs already and he would just keep looking at me or would try get away from him. And during this, he would just keep on telling me that that’s how I should treat my dog in order for him to listen to me. He then told me to sit in the corner and ignore them. I had to actually start the conversation pertaining to the medical issue and asked him what was wrong with my dog’s eye to move the consultation along. The whole time, he didnt close the door and there was a cat loose. Obviously, my dog was distracted too.
This is not my first time at a vet. Up until now, this was the first time that a vet did not get us involved with the consultation. He did not want me to calm my dog down when he was obviously listening to me more. The vet even told me that if I dont listen to him when I tried to step in and calm my dog down, then he would not handle my dog. No questions were asked, like “when did it start” or if “he’s had this before”. Also, the vet use a dye, an eye ointment and steroid injection which I understand would obviously increase the cost but not once did he talk me through it throughout the consultation that this is what its going to be. I dont mind the cost. I am happy to pay the amount of the consultation + whatever meds were used. However, I do not appreciate it when it is just sprung up on me. From $95 to $180! Its not good to compare but I cant help it when the whole experience was a complete 180 from my experiences with other vet clinics.
The ladies on the phone and at the reception were all lovely but the vet was awful, rude and condescending. I appreciate him treating my dog, but I would not go back there if he was the only vet on duty. Literally, the only reason I gave it a 2-star review is because of the girls at the reception. They were the only warm presence there.
