Review Summary

Here's a summary of the most recent reviews on The Pet Community
Balcatta Veterinary Hospital has received mixed reviews from pet owners. Some customers have shared positive experiences, noting the friendly and knowledgeable staff, with pets like Snoopy enjoying the extra attention and pats they receive. However, others have expressed dissatisfaction, citing high costs and a lack of empathy. For instance, one customer felt burdened by a $130 consultation fee and a $1124 quote for an X-ray, only to later find a more affordable and effective treatment at a different vet. While some praise the care provided, there are concerns about the pricing being out of reach for many pet owners.

Found a lump on my cats throat Saturday arvo. Rang them to ask if I could come down to get it checked out as I was stressing hard. Was 7.30pm. I was put into a room after about 30 mins. A nurse came in and took my cat into the back where apparently they looked down her throat and did an O2 test on her. My cat was brought back into the consultation room I was waiting in. She told me there was going to be a long wait until the veterinarian could talk to me further. I had to wait 2 hours to finally be seen. The veterinarian comes in. I wasn’t familiar with her as I am with the other kind and friendly veterinarians. She told me my cats O2 levels were fine that she was receiving a great amount of oxygen. I asked her what the lump in my cats throat was. She basically said she didn’t know and that they’d have to do an X ray to see what the mass as she simply described it as. The quote was for $1124. I told her that was ridiculous and I couldn’t afford that let alone anyone else. And secondly the x-ray wouldn’t be able to be done until the next day sunday and that thirdly I wouldn’t receive the scans back until midweek the following. An absolute waste of my TIME. A waste of my MONEY at $130 for a consultation fee JUST to tell me I need an x-ray that couldn’t even be done that night. They could have told me this over the phone that the likelihood was they couldn’t diagnose the lump and an x-ray would be needed so I didn’t have to waste my money. I paid $130 just to wait 2 hours just to be told an x-ray was the go. The veterinary was rude and disrespectful. When I said I couldn’t afford that she replied” I’m sorry I didn’t tell you what you wanted to hear. The reception was also rude to me. A receptionist once again I’d never seen or familiar with.
So today- Monday I was advised to go to Sean veterinary and I walked in without an appointment. I was checked in by an exceptionally friendly lady. Within 10 MINUTES- I was called in to an exceptionally friendly and kind male veterinarian. He took my cats vitals. Within 6 minutes he informed me that it wasn’t a tumour/ cyst or cancer. He properly looked into cats mouth and noticed two small wounds on her gumbs and ascertained that she had an infection due to a slightly high body temp. Saif that the lump in her throat was part of the infection/ injury and that x-rays/ Ulta sound/ nor surgery was needed. He gave my cat an injection for anti inflammatory and antibiotics. And also have me an antibiotics paste in a syringe to take home with to to administer to my cat over the next 5 days. He told me that the lump should start going down in a day or two. And to come back next week. $80 consultation fee. The total of my visit today was $155. I’m shocked. But very happy I’ve found a new vet clinic. I will never go back to Balcatta again. They are money focused. Ripping ppl off. Their prices are extortionate. Money hungry. There is no true empathy for owner and pet. Clearly all and only about how money they charge poor struggling people. From my previous experience. $390 to spade a female cat – absolutely ridiculous. $130 for a consultation. Ridiculous
Swan Vets are 1/4 of that cost. $80 for consultation. O wonder there’s such an put of control stray unwanted cat population because no one can afford the prices these vets charge to sterilize/ castrate cats. They should be ashamed of themselves money hungry grubs. Shame shame shame. When will you ppl learn. Never. As documented by the many bad reviews. People can do better. Use Sean Veterinary, get decent genuine caring service and brilliant affordable prices.

Always a reassuring, pleasant experience taking my fur babies to Balcatta. Everyone is friendly, knowledgeable and Snoopy in particular LOVES all the extra attention and pats he gets. If you need advice or vet care -please come here!
