After being a “client “ of Lake vet for nearly 30th years ( we firstly took our pets to the Swansea vet clinic) we then moved to Belmont so stayed with them. When Phill Wilson owned the vets, he was all we needed for our dogs. Over the last 20 plus years they were a part of our care for our pets. So today we had to put our beautiful Schnauzer Monique 15 Years 10 months old to sleep. Rang the vets, the receptionist was not that great. I explained that Monique was suffering greatly. That was 9.30 in the morning. Our appointment was 3.20pm. Our little girl suffered. So disappointed. If we get a other pup we will not stay with them. All those years of staying with them ment nothing

We have had mixed experiences with Lake Vet. Years ago we saw a good vet there, who took time for careful observation of our pets before proceeding to treatment.
More recently our appointments have been very short, with very brief observation made before prescribing medications. On one occasion a misdiagnosis was made. On another, after seeking a second opinion from another vet, it appears an overprescription of medications was made.
Explanations for treatment have not been made in simple terms. I have twice called for a follow up conversation/clarification of our recent visit. A week and more has passed now and I have not recieved a call back.

Where do I start, I had to wait a few days before I posted my review because I have been a absolute mess….Don’t get me wrong some of the staff have been excellent..The first photo was my first consultation for this injury as you can see its very minor, well swollen, the vet prescribed me antibiotics and pain killers, if it doesn’t improve bring Bluey back..Well 2 days later it did start to improve during the day…However on Saturday morning when I woke because it was improving as you can see on the second photo Bluey was trying to scratch it during the night and made it worse. I waited until the vet opened on Saturday morning rang them up and explained to them what had happened so Bluey and I go in and see the vet…The vet says we will give you some more antibiotics and a cone to stop Bluey from scratching it and some eye ointment in case it busts
Helpful ReviewIf it busts just make sure it doesn’t go into Blueys eye’s if it does use the eye ointment. So come late Saturday night it burst and all night I stayed up and made sure it never went into my boys eye’s as he is the love of my life..I suffer from sever PTSD and I explained that to this Vet on more than 1 occasion that’s why I got my dog in the first place as a companion dog and I have had him since 7 weeks old and this is the only vet Bluey has been too he has had all of his needles here….On late Saturday night I rang the emergency hospital for dogs at Broadmeadow and because the abcess had already busted and Bluey was booked in for a clean out on Monday they just said to keep it clean with warm salty water..Which I did ..Come Monday morning I dropped Bluey off….I was mess when I picked my boy up from surgery I will not post the picture because it’s to horrific for people to look at but the last photo you can just imagine what it looked like…
