2 weeks ago was taken on a tour of the bird vet hospital – just brilliant behind the scenes facilities. Each bird in a private clean heated hospital cage with appropriate perches and toys. Very hard to get better .

I found an injured bird ( budggie?) in the backyard this morning and took it to this vet. The staff were very friendly and the vet took the bird in right away. My son also saw this injured bird and he was very sad. Hope the poor bird can live. God bless him.

Most reliable and helpful. We have two cockatiels, and one of them is an albino. This makes her condition different and delicate compared to other birds. Dr. Phil is very patient and has immense knowledge.

We had terrible mis diagnosis and treatments from other vets. The experience here has been a life saviour.

Due to Covid-19 I was unable to go in there with her, however throughout the whole process they called and sent photos of the whole appointment that made me feel so happy to know she was in the best hands. I travel 2 hours to come to these guys and I will do so forever! Thank you again guys! ā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļø – Luna and Grace

Thank you Bird Vet Melbourne for saving my bird!

I took my cockatiel Peako to the vet when I noticed he was vomiting.
After a few seconds into the examination, the vet knew immediately what was wrong.

Peako had been chewing on natural rope that I used in his cage to tie toys/branches. He had ingested a concerning amount of this fibre & if not acted on fast by an Avarian specialist, would have resulted in death as it was sitting in his stomach impacting his digestion.

I adore my little guy to bits & would never dream of doing anything to harm him.

Unfortunately, Avarian vets see fibre impaction regularly as almost all bird toys contain some element of rope.

If you have rope in your birds cage I highly recommend removing it immediately.

Please please please be aware of what you are providing your bird. Rope toys look pretty & fun but they are just not worth it.

Amazing care for our 9 year old chicken Artemis Fowl who was attacked by a greyhound in Jan 2020. Dr Phil performed emergency surgery to repair severe lacerations and after further surgeries and a long period of rehabilitation at home, she has returned to a happy life in our backyard. We didnā€™t think she would survive the dog attack, but the staff at bird vet Melbourne worked hard to ensure she would have to best chance of recovery and have a good quality of life.

After trying other Avian Vets, I highly recommend Bird Vet Melbourne. Our little Quaker, Blue, was treated for worms and had her droppings tested during the same consultation. We got a mix of advice from the other vets, but Dr. Ruth helped explain everything which put me at ease knowing our lil feathered friend was in good hands. It was an hour long drive to get there, but I’d do it again in a heart beat!

Dr Phil Sacks conducted a general check-up on our 1.5 year old flightless rescue lorikeet, Boo. Phil recommended we conduct a blood test to determine if Boo has had or currently has beak & feather disease. As Boo had never been handled by a stranger, we were apprehensive as to how the bird would respond. However, due to Philā€™s care and professionalism, Booā€™s consultation went off without a hitch!

They are full of knowledge, compassion, and are very attentive to the needs of not just my bird but every animal that comes in through the doors. They are so loving and kind to Bernie my Vet Dr Esther as well as Dr Phil and the very kind vet nurses. Taylor was very kind when Bernie was eggbound recently and very ill in hospital. Taylor took such good care of her sending me photos and giving me updates. I really appreciated everyoneā€™s help. I would highly recommend getting implants for female birds to stop them laying eggs and getting eggbound every year. I cannot recommendation Bird Vet Melbourne highly enough thank you everyone for looking after Bernie Watson.

Phil & his team are the most empathic carers. I cannot thank him & his team enough. Phil has saved my girls (chooks!) on numerous occasions now – including a life saving surgery on my now 8 year old girl Bobski. I would not entrust anyone else with their care. And even though weā€™re in Yarraville, the hike across town is always worth it. He has spent hours with us when needed, which I trust is unusual. But moreso, he equally cares about your welfare when discussing options & treatment plans. Trust me, you cannot get better care for your feathered & furred friends. ZoĆ« & Peter, Yarraville.
