I was really glad to find CBS after trying a few other places, as training with them has been such a positive experience for Dash and myself.
Training on the big oval with extra space around the classes gives you so much more room to move around without pushing your dog to be in close contact with other dogs. Dash is a rescue and he’s a bit of an anxious fluffball in general. All of the trainers have been really supportive of him, they really listen when you’re having an issue – they have so many great ideas on other techniques I could try to help him when he gets stuck on something.
There’s been several dogs (Dash included) who have needed to train a bit further away from the class circle sometimes to make sure they’re focused and not disruptive to others.
And the trainers have always been happy to assist with help coping with upsets, sometimes with adding distance, or by putting visual or physical barriers in between, and they modified some class exercises so you still feel included. And by allowing that space and freedom, they give the dogs the best chance of success and continued improvement. We’ve gone from being 3 or 4m away to sitting quietly in the circle between activities.
Dash is so much calmer and more confident now in busy environments than when we started training and if we do need to step out for a minute he usually recovers from upset much quicker. He loves stopping to say hello his trainer friends afterwards too.
