I was at Caves House for lunch with family from Melbourne on Wednesday 28 th December. What a disaster, we ordered and paid for 4 meals and only 2 were delivered, after asking numerous wait staff to check where the other two meals were I finally, after 45 minutes, went to the kitchen to ask where the other 2 meals were only to be pushed out of the kitchen by I can only presume was the manager, it was suggested to me to check with the wait staff before coming to the kitchen, which as mentioned both my brother in law and myself had done on numerous occasions with no joy. It was very disappointing to be treated so rudely by the manager with no apology. Might I add that the wait staff were very young and did a marvellous job, however I think might have been dismissed by the kitchen when requesting where the missing meals were. I understand that it was busy, but disregarding the wait staffs query was very poor management. I would like an apology and an explanation for disregarding several attempts to honour our order. This was a lovely surprise for me and when we arrived, we had high expectations of this hotel, the accommodation rates rival some of the most expensive. Stayed for 2 nights in a single bedroom apartment with balcony which was well appointed though a little tired. The bedroom looked inviting however the mattress was incredibly hard and sleep was difficult to come by. The toilet seat was broken and the outdoor chairs needed some cushions.

The menu is not huge, is the same throughout the venue and very expensive considering you need to line up to order and pay whether you’re in the restaurant or the beer garden. Breakfast was scarce and service even more scarce.
Not sure whether it was a manager or the owner barking orders at junior workers but it was unpleasant to hear.

I shall always remember this stay as my partner proposed and suggested it as our wedding venue.

The house itself is a lovely heritage building, set in an amazing location and has a great feel unfortunately it didn’t meet our expectations.

Beautiful gardens and a great place for a sundowner. Food was a little hit and miss, the burger was very good but the fish and chips were average, the. Vegetarian nachos were decent

Didn’t stay, only came in for dinner and a pint after a long drive

I was astonished to see food arrive 5 mins after ordering, for a table of 12. Staff were also incredibly friendly, brilliant service, and gorgeous interior.

Stayed at this hotel for a 40th. While the room was smallish it suited us perfectly. Loved the historic feel of the hotel and the rooms. Definitely recommended for a weekend stay.

Beautiful building and location being wasted,( 5 stars for this) as for that restaurant (1 star) for such absolute rubbish food, very disappointed a complete waste of your money , maybe they don’t want you to come back just sit in the bar with a few pints. Certainly not for their restaurant..they want tourist to come to W.A ? You got to be joking with restaurants like this

Excellent room, clean and balcony overlooking the spectacular gardens. Evan at the hotel has exceptional customer service skills., Evan looked after us at breakfast and behind the bar. Melbourne Cup Day was well organized and a fun day. The buffet complimentary breakfast that came with our room booking was sensational. I can highly recommend this venue.

Yellingup is a beautiful area to visit, taking in Margaret River and the stunning coastline. The Caves house is a very well situated place to stay while in the area. Plenty of history in the Caves house hotel with all the old photos on the walls throughout the building. Very nice breakfast was included in the price of the room.

What an absolute gem of a place – their food was tastier than some of the fancy wineries in the area! And portions twice the size!! They have something for everyone here, the venue is huge, plenty of space, musicians on the weekend, pool table, tab, a great array of drinks, cool decor, fire crackling in winter time, perfect for a glass of red!
