Had a wonderful time at Napenthe with the charming, knowledgeable and passionate Ashlee. She was an absolute winner as were the beautiful wines. Without being urged on by Ashlee we decided to become a member of this winery based on her interaction with us (a senior couple who had just turned up late on a wet Sunday afternoon) and the outstanding quality of wine. The views from the cellar door were memorable as well. Could not have been happier. We will look forward to our quarterly delivery of these wonderful wines. Great experience! The drive from Hahndorf into the winery is incredibly scenic. At the cellar shop you can build your own picnic hamper from selection of wines, cheeses, chocolates, crackers, wooden boards, picnic rug & more – everything you need for a picnic is there. We found this to be a very organised and convenient arrangement. Everything was delicious – artisan quality & reasonably priced. Needless to say their wines are fantastic, especially desert wine. You can picnic on their lawns enjoying picturesque views of the vineyard. They have benches as well as lounger chairs – very comfortable seating arrangements. Service was good. Overall we had a great time and will be back.

Have always loved the wines so wanted to visit the cellar door but last weekend went and the staff asked us to take a seat outside and wait and they would be right with us. After 25 minutes gave up waiting and went to Shaw and Smith across the road instead where we were taken care of in under 2 minutes and had an amazing time despite it being at least twice as busy there

Less than friendly greeting. We were a family group of 8 covering 3 generations. We were chastised for not making a group booking.Advised we could stay if we paid a fee for tasting that was not offset against any purchases which is totally against the norm. Ironic given there was only 4 other people tasting!! Will not be back.

Magnificent wine, and a beautiful winery with wonderful views. The food they offer to go with their wines is specifically chosen and makes for an amazing experience.
