Stefan was wonderfully helpful when booking my cat in to see the cardiologist, providing an estimate of the charges and assisting during the ultrasound itself. The cardiologist was very thorough and relaxed, which helped keep my cat calm as well. The appointment and procedure were handled efficiently, with care and was not rushed. Stefan even followed up by phone on a couple of questions I had post examination and to check in to see how my cat was going. Cannot recommend this team enough!

Came in at 9:30 on a Saturday night with my dog, on arrival was helped to bring me dog onto a stretcher from the car which was nice as he is quite a large dog. My dog was taken into the back area and I was left sitting in waiting room until 1:30 in the morning, when I was consulted by vet there was no conclusive diagnosis at that time but I was told he would be there overnight I was quoted up to 3000$ for this stay. They had advised me to call back in the am to see when I could pick up my fur baby, when I called they had yet to give him his 2nd lot of X-rays as it was busy and he was not as unwell as some of the other animals that were there which is understandable so I just waited and continued to call where a receptionist would let me know what was happening with him, on my 3rd to 4th call the receptionist had said she would get me a vet to come speak to me which I found strange, the vet had advised me while doing the X-ray they had to sedate him which normally happens but when the reversed the relaxant he had a seizure which was not common, they had advised he was fine then and just resting in the back and I could come get him at around 4/5ish. I went with my sister in law to get him. Once we had arrived they left us in waiting room again for around half an hour, when I was taken into my dog it was very clear that he was extremely drugged up and couldn’t even walk, but he was looking much better then the night before, the vet gave no information about what happened to him and what was making him unwell, even in the papers I was given there was no indication of what may have been wrong with him. I then had to pay 3011$. I then was given my dog who was still reluctant to walk and the vet left with no offer to help put him in the car. When I arrived home my dog was ok but he was so sleepy he just layer there, I then noticed he was urinating all over himself and the floor which is unlike him . Rang vet back to see if this was normal behaviour was advised yes due to the. Medication he has been prescribed, would have been handy to know prior to discharge. The only positive thing was staff where quite friendly.

I absolutely agree with the one star ratings. My housemates dog was seizuring for the first time, when I drove him to the vet the receptionist just sat there looking at us and refused to let us in because we had no masks with us. We had to call our usual vet to call them to let us in we were both crying until we eventually screamed let us in but she still sat there looking at us. Finally our vets called them and that’s when we were let in no shoes, only wearing pj’s. A mask is the last thing you carry when your dog is “dying” or is not in normal health. I made contact via email with the manager only to be told she would investigate it’s been months now and she has no contacted me back apologising or updating me on this incident.

Second incident was recent when I had to book my baby girl in to see the cardiologist. Unfortunately this is the only vet he attends. I was hung up on mid question after being rudely spoken to about the process of the appointment.

I honestly think they have paid people to write 5 star reviews because 3mths ago they were 2.3star rating and it’s odd to see so many 5 star ratings in a row.

Really concerned for all the future dogs that attend this clinic. Bless their beautiful souls

I rang her twice and both times she helped me so much. Not once did she say to race my doggy down to the clinic, she knew it was a medication issue. I have not had such care and regard from any of the vets I have seen over the last 2.5 weeks where I have spent in excess of $2000 to get nowhere. I hope Renata sees this. Our 12 year old dog woke up acting strange and was unsteady around 2a.m. I drove her to the emergency vet and spent no more than 10 minutes with the vet, who said it was like a vertigo which can occur in older dogs
and prescribed motion sickness tablets for the symptoms, not the cause. By the time I got home she had improved anyway and has not recurred. Just beware the prices charged are outrageously excessive. I was supplied just 4 tablets whichcan be purchased from Animal Pharmacy online for $25.90 yet this vet charged me $220, plus $380 for a 10 minute consult. Absolutely unjustifiable.

Please do not take your animals here. This is a scam designed to take advantage of you at your most vulnerable. After informing the vet our puppy has just eaten wood pellets, we were told our dog just had gastro. They kept her overnight and a cost of 2,700. When they discharged her she was unable to eat or even walk. Thank goodness we didn’t leave her here, she would either be dead or we would be broke or both. The next day we took our dog to our local trusted vet who was most empathetic. We received a different diagnosis backed up with x rays they showed us along with a detailed plan for her recovery. She stayed for 2 days with treatments, IV & x rays both days which only cost $430 per day. I understand that emergency vet should cost more but not 4 times as much for an uncomfortable 2 hour wait and a miss diagnosis. Very disappointed

If I could give this group more stars I would. Their service and care is second to none. We brought our little Dachshund Bruno in on Thursday after he was partially paralysed and dragging himself around everywhere. We were told by our normal vet that surgery was an option but most likely wouldn’t have a good outcome and we should consider euthanasia. We were then referred to AAERC, they saw us immediately and had him in for scans and surgery within 3 hours. He’s now home recovering happily 3 days later, where he belongs and able to walk around (very carefully). He still has a long recovery ahead but he wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for the amazing skills and abilities and the love and care the staff at AAERC show. My dog was referred by my vet to AAEC had a twisted stomach, staff were extremely kind and saw him straight away advised needed emergency surgery straight away, took me to a room and explained the procedure and covered all outcomes, good and bad, which was appreciated. Then covered the costing which had a variance from $6000 -$9000, was shocked but needed to be done. The care they gave my dog was wonderful, the staff were great I am extremely grateful for that. The only ONE big complaint I have is that they wanted a $3000 deposit which I did not have I gave a $1000 deposit which they took to management and came back and said “is there anyone that you can ring” so I had to call two family member while they were in the room to get the other $2000. This was very very upsetting, I understand they require some sort of payment but I felt very pressured to get the money. I did inform them that I could pay but did not have that amount of money on me at that stage (which was late at night) I needed to transfer money from an another account which would take two days. I was really upset because my dog needed emergency surgery and was so scared that he would not make it. I feel in these circumstances where there is a large amount of costs involved but more importantly the extreme stress and concern I had regarding my lovely dog compassion was needed and not the $$$. Vet bill came to $9000 which was paid in full on discharge. I will say the staff and vets did a wonderful job and looked after my dog and he is going really well.

I brought my cat in to see a vet because he was very weak as he wasn’t eating or drinking. Dr Nicole, as she introduced herself, kept Tom overnight and did a blood test for him but she couldn’t determine what was causing a low RBC. In this circumstance, this inexperienced vet overestimated the severity of the condition and recommended to euthanize the cat ( and charged nearly $2000) . Luckily, I declined her request to end his life and I found an experienced vet at a different practice to treat him . Now Tom is on the mend .

We arrived at 1130pm after traveling 2.5 hours from our home vet on Yorke Peninsula who telephoned ahead to provide details ( aaerc was only emergency clinic that had a spare ventilator if Tommy needed) – Tommy had eaten puffer fish😫 When we arrived It was very busy and Vet Nurses who obviously also juggling front desk as well as unwell animals were a bit short. However Vet came out (Mario) and took us immediately into waiting room. Mario was excellent caring, informative about possible scenarios and the cost. I felt confident in leaving Tommy overnight that all supportive care would have been provided and I would be contacted if any issues. Mario telephoned me about 7am to give update with wonderful news and that Tommy had recovered. When we picked him up that afternoon – Sophie was friendly and accommodating. The Vet came out with Tommy to give us an update to his care and was excellent. Thank you.

Was told if I was to see the vet it would cost me $280 and at this moment I had no money til next pay and I would have paid my whole next pay cheque to keep my companion but because I only had $60 left for the week I felt like I was given no other option to have her put to sleep…. We decided to get a antihistamine shot as the swelling wouldn’t go down. But the vet we saw was so lovely and took such good care of our boy. Couldn’t recommend it anymore especially at 10:30pm on Saturday! Thank you Dr Nikki and Vet nurses!

Went in 5.30pm on a Saturday with my dog had lacerated her leg. The beautiful vet nurse Maz had a good look at Lunas leg, took her through to see the vet to make sure her advice was right, and then proceeded to clean and bandage luna’s wound. She gave us the advice to see the standard vet the following day as she would be ok until then. Luna has since had 6 staples and is ok.
Maz was realistic about the level of care that Luna needed at the time and gave us the advice we needed to be sure Luna was getting the help she needed
I can’t substantiate the claims that people make here about the vet being money hungry as they could have easily done the work at the time and charge through the nose but instead showed true integrity and presented us with a plan that was best for Luna and respectful to our wallets.
We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the service to others or bring our baby back to this clinic if we ever needed.
    Thanks team.

Cold environment and very slap dash was given a verbal quote which no paper copy was supplied and a $1200 deposit. the final bill was over $1000 more than discussed with the vet, terrible communication when it comes to costing very confusing with added fees without first consulting us such as; 12 hour blocks are charged $462.05 even if you don’t use the full 12 hours. We felt completely Pressured into finance as there are apparently NO other options. Finance was dodgy as they never asked us any information about our financial circumstances nor are annual income and terms and conditions were rushed through. We left feeling very disheartened and upset. Would not recommend, I feel this place is all about the mighty dollar.

I couldn’t be more disappointed with this place.

We came in on Saturday night as our gorgeous greyhound had slipped and hit her leg into the corner of the wall and gashed her leg open.
    (We were expecting stitches).

After a 2.5 hour wait (which was anticipated) and $450 wait we were sent on our way after the vet said she ‘put some honey on it and bandaged it up’. We were told to take the bandage off 3 days later and now it looks worse than before and she will be requiring surgery tomorrow morning.

I was initially gobsmaked at $450 for a 5 minute drive consult, honey and a bandage but was glad that was all she needed.
Now to find out by our usual vet that she needs surgery, is just even more upsetting.

Please avoid this vet at all costs, if it wasn’t late night, we would have never gone here.

Edit- I have also been contacted and told to take this down as it is not good for their reputation.
They have stated they believe what has been done was accurate for this case, and the fact they used ‘Manuka’ honey warrants this? I have Manuka honey in my cupboard and it’s definitely not $200 a jar!

I was really pleased with the treatment our dog received. Unfortunately some significant surgery was involved – and there were only a couple of locations in SA that had sufficient skills to perform the operation. AAERC was one of these two – and the cheaper one.

Update – 3 months later. Our dog is a lot better but still experiencing some issues – by no fault of the vet. We visited and talked through the health complications and how we can manage these into the future (1/2hr consult). This was at no charge which was appreciated. All staff were friendly on both occasions I have visited.

I know a lot of reviews here are critical of the cost however I think it is necessary to acknowledge this is a 24 emergency/clinical centre. It also provides surgical procedures that are over and above the scope of a normal vet.

With that in mind it will always be financially advantageous to visit your local vet if that is an option. However, when a pet requires attention outside of normal hours as an emergency and/or the work required cannot be tackled by your ordinary vet then this Centre can assist.

I believe the reality is that vets in general are not cheap, and vets offering advanced services that operate 24 hours every day of the year are obviously going to charge more to provide that service.

Sent a post operative dog here in the hope that he would receive 24 hour care. Instead he was sent home too early in worse condition than when he arrived and had to be euthanized days later as the vet had not administered antibiotics which led to infection which deteriorated his condition. Do not reccomend, find a better place for your pet.

Thank you to the wonderful medical and nursing staff, who looked after our beloved Hugo in his last hours of his life. The doctors kept us up to date on his condition and did their best to keep him comfortable at the state that he was in. When the prognosis was becoming bleak – they kept us informed really quickly so that we could say our good-byes before a decision was made to put him to sleep. The end of life matters and his cremation matters were never rushed and we were allowed plenty of time to spend time with his remains after he died. Thank you, Fe from the nursing team; for arranging for us to be at his cremation viewing given this COVID19 setting- as I know he would have wanted us to be with him when he is laid to rest.

Vet vets and reception are absolutely beautiful humans.
Money was brought up after all information was delivered.
The vet/ specialist looked me in the eyes with compassion and told me straight the chance of our baby rottie walking again would be 5% and he will not have a quality of life.

When we insisted on scans and care, he advised against it but respected our choice.
We spent 10000 but nothing could be done to save him. The staff wrapped him in his cow hide and placed his teddies around him and we sat with him while he transitioned to the other side. I cried with him for about an hour and the staff gave me my space to morn.

They cared about me and my boy and they showed such compassion and professionalism

I am so incredibly grateful for the staff at the AAERC.

A few weeks ago my beautiful border collie Tex became incredibly sick very quickly, and we took him to the AAERC in the middle of the night. They were so attentive to our description of his symptoms, and kept him in overnight on seizure watch. Sadly, Tex’s condition deteriorated as the night progressed – he was put into an induced coma to stop his seizures, and then had to be put down a few hours later.

Dr Jeff Clyne was the most mindful, patient and kind man. He called me throughout the night with updates about Tex, and explained our options for treatment multiple times. When it came time to put Tex down, Dr Clyne was compassionate, calm and sympathetic. All the staff at AAERC were accommodating of me spending some time with Tex after he was put down, and I will be forever grateful to them for giving me time to grieve my pet. I was very aware that they had other animals to care for, but never was I rushed by the staff.

I also understand the costs involved in emergency pet care, and wish others would be more thoughtful before shunning this practice based on cost. The veterinarians, vet nurses and other staff work so hard to provide this 24/7 service, and so I am very happy to pay! Without the 24 hour service at the AAERC, my beautiful dog would have suffered more, which is the last thing I would ever want, and if any amount of money meant that I got to keep my dog for longer, I would have paid 10x that!

Thank you so so much to all at AAERC!! Although not the outcome I wanted for my doggy, I am so thankful for your services and kindness 💝
