Review Summary

Here's a summary of the most recent reviews on The Pet Community
North Mandurah Pet Hotel has garnered a reputation for offering exceptional care and services for pets, especially dogs. Numerous pet owners have shared their positive experiences, highlighting the friendly service and the noticeable positive changes in their pets after a stay at the hotel. Notably, pets new to the kennel environment, like Odin, are given special attention to help them adjust, pairing anxious dogs with calmer ones to ease their anxiety. Despite being an older facility, it's clear that the well-being and happiness of the pets are a top priority, with activities and freedom to explore being a part of their daily routine. The hotel's approach to pet care, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, involved innovative changes for the betterment of the pets' experience, such as more freedom to roam and interact, which has led to quicker settling in for the animals and less stress overall. This approach has not only benefited the pets but also allowed the staff to manage their tasks more efficiently. The North Mandurah Pet Hotel stands out for those looking for a place where their pets can enjoy natural outdoor activities, get a bit dirty, and receive lots of love and treats from the caring staff.

Our big dog Odin, hadn’t been to a Kennel before, it was ours and his first experience, was like dropping the kid off on the first day of school, for me at least. He came back a different dog, and the service is always friendly, he was anxious on the first occasion and they put him with a little dog to help him. Although an older facility, i wouldn’t put him anywhere else, definately 5 stars from my perspective anyway.

We have run boarding kennels in this premises for almost 33 years. We initiated the ‘no tour’ in 2020 in response to covid to limit potential contamination. In this time we found allowing the little dogs to run around the in the kennel building with us, and around all the yards free and uncaged, whilst we are cleaning cooking, etc. made their experience even better. They love the freedom to run yard to yard, and back inside to check in with us as they please. Even the less confident ones find this easier and eventually follow the others around exploring for hours at a time.
Before this they were restricted to the yards to keep the floors and walk ways sparkle clean and front lawn undamaged as owners came into the kennels to place their dogs in their kennel and say goodbye. Had to be clean and tidy for the people.
During the covid period we saw another change in our guests. Particularly in the new larger dogs, whose kennels are further on from the small dog area. They were settling in much faster. We expect it’s Instead of being left at their own kennel gate watching their owner walk away from them, us leading them away from their owner at the driveway/front gate allows them to settle with us much faster. Not being able to view owners exit saves a lot of staring at a gate and longing for owner to reappear. They are also much less noisy when new dogs are brought in by us alone.
All this says much less stress in the new environment.
On the selfish side of this, we no longer have to get up at 5:30 to be sure all dogs are exercised, blankets changed, kennels cleaned, dishes washed (kitchen is in the small dog building) before our 9:00 am opening.
If you are looking at kennelling where dogs are never off concrete we are not the place for you.
BUT if you like a place where your dogs might get dirty, have a pond to paddle in, are able to dig holes, roll in the grass or run with new friends all while pestering workers for treats, we are the right place.
BTW the small dog building and yards border the driveway, so are clearly viewed from the driveway and office. Couldn’t hide it if we wanted to!
