The unit was beautiful, and very restful to the eye. Also so very very comfy in that coming from Queensland we had every aid at our finger tips to keep warm! |Air con, electric blanket, extra blankets if preferred, heated towel rack and in floor heating in bathroom as well as ceiling heat lamps. Everything in the unit felt first class. |Lovely area to take walks and close enough to city and many other most interesting walks.

We’re making the most of travel within Tassie, and the River House did not disappoint. Cute and cozy winter escape complete with spa bath, complimentary cheese platter & bubbles, open fire and sweeping views of the Tamar River. Anna is a lovely host, and makes the BEST breakfast. Highly recommend!

We enjoyed a lovely, personal and generous stay at River House. Having been around visiting the wineries in the area, it was wonderful to relax, almost as being in someone’s home. The owners are a lovely couple who just add to an outstanding stay. The breakfast also added to the conclusion that River House deliver real value for money.|

A perfect conclusion to stimulating holidays – on the Tamar, just 10 min from Launceston. Ideally situated for tours to NW and NE Tasmania. Hosts were knowledgeable, helpful, kind and engaged in thoughtful answers to guest questions. Superb breakfasts with attention to detail and guest needs. Restful, scenic, charming and convenient setting with endlessly engaging light on the sweeping river.

We were greeted by Anna and Michael and invited in for drinks with friends within minutes. Our room was beautiful, very tastefully decorated with underfloor heating and air con, it was cosy and comfortable. The bathroom was large and immaculately clean, as was the kitchen area that had all you could need to prepare meals.||The breakfast room window frames stunning views of the Tamar River and then there’s the food!! Anna’s meals were divine with very generous portions of scrambled eggs and smoked salmon, and on our second morning a very full English style breakfast of locally sourced sausages, mushrooms and eggs from their chooks. We didn’t need to eat all day!||Both Anna and Michael were a mine of information and so generous with their local knowledge, It was a delight to sit and chat. ||Our only regret was that we couldn’t stay longer with this lovely couple who made us feel so very much at home. ||The River House is a wonderful guest house in a stunning location with delicious food. ||Thanks Anna and Michael for your very generous hospitality.

Lovely location not too far out of town, with lovely river views on a gorgeous property. The house had heaps of character and a variety of rooms to choose from. Quiet and private. Anna was a lovely host. She was onto it with communication and organisation. Her gourmet breakfasts were fantastic and she catered gluten free when requested.

Ever been to a place where you just stare out the window in awe?
This wonderful 4.5 star B&B is one of those places! The beautiful Tasmanian bush is invited into the lounge room while you are toasty warm, reclining by the old world fireplace. Great time for a glass of Beautiful Tasmanian Wine!

My wife and I have been back multiple times, as we find it our “go to” place to relax and recharge. The owners, Michael and Anna are the perfect hosts.

If nothing else this winter, do yourself a favour and book a trip to the River House Launceston.

We stayed at the River House Launceston for 4 days, it was the most amazing experience , I have stayed in 5 star hotels in so many cities, this is a 6 star property, and if you add the wonderful and professional service of Michael and Anna then it becomes a Michelin star property, the view, the breakfast, the cleanliness and the beautiful smile was amazing, I will highly recommend the River House to all .

Our family stayed at The River House Launceston from my brother’s birthday and it was truly such a wonderful experience. The warmth and kindness of Anna and Michael make the stay so welcoming and enjoyable. Anna’s breakfasts are so delicious and so tasty and the best way to start the day. The portions were so filling and were made from local produce from their garden and from eggs from their chooks. We couldn’t stop raving about our stay here, the view is spectacular and the walk down to the river was breathtaking. We would recommend this place o anyone who wants to experience a 5 star stay. Anna and Michael went above and beyond to make our stay so amazing. We can’t wait to come back again. Thank you so much!

I stayed at the River House in November 2018.

What a truly stunning place! The only thing more impressive than the accommodation itself were our incredible hosts.

It’s located in a great spot, right on a peaceful bend of the River Tamar. The perfect spot to settle in for a sundown cheese board and a glass or two of Tassie red. You’re only a few mins out of Launceston itself and it provides the perfect launch pad to explore the Northern coastline and wineries.

The rooms are really comfortable and well appointed, the property is in fantastic condition and has great walks to keep you occupied if you want to explore the surrounding area.
