Vetwest South Perth advertises as an Emergency Vet, yet when I attended the clinic at 4:45pm on a weekday, no vet was there, only vet nurses. The vet had left at 4:30pm despite advertising opening hours till 6:30pm.

Helpful Review 1PLEASE DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET ANIMAL TO VETWEST. My cat was put down by Vet west’s most experienced staff in Mindarie without informing me (the owner) and without my consent.
I would give these guys a zero star if I could- I took my cat at her most vulnerable state after she was hit by a car to these guys to save her. They told me it would be fine and made me pay for a part of her stay and surgery. They instead put her down for no good reason due to miscommunication amongst their team. This is not a good enough reason to kill a human or an animal. They have no remorse still and have not yet taken accountability or responsibility for what has happened. Instead they keep passing the ball from one person to another because no one wants to look bad. I have lost trust and faith in these guys.

Helpful ReviewThe staff and the doctors are so caring and nice. I have had so many issues with my puppy since I got her and their support meant so much to me. I highly appreciate all the follow-up phone calls to check on my puppy after her having consultations.
My puppy also had cherry eye surgery at the vet and she looks gorgeous now! I am so happy with the results and the way she felt after the surgery, and how she is feeling now.
The wellness plan is also great value for money.

I’d just like to give a massive shout out to Dr. Cirsten. He is so passionate about his work and it shows. My cat has has an ongoing, unresolvable issue so we visit the vet regularly. Whenever we visit, you can just see that he knows how much our pets mean to us. He is so gentle and caring with my kitty. My boy was shaking the entire time we were on the way to the vet but as soon as he saw Dr. Cirsten, he was fine and was happy to be taken away for blood and urine samples.
Dr. Cirsten has taken photos of the skin issue my cat is having to show other vets and for his own reference to try and figure out the best way to treat it because we still don’t know what is wrong with him.
This guy really cares for animals and is fantastic with the owners of much beloved pets. I am honestly so thankful that he is looking after my cat because he obviously cares a great deal.
I would 100% recommend seeing Dr. Cirsten if you ever need to see a vet.

This is the second time i have been here with an injured bird. Both times a walk in with no appointment. They have greated me and been very professionaand caring for the wildlife. I simply completed a form and then they advised the bird would go to a carer in the morning if it survived the night.

They have large clean vet clinic and great hours, open till 7pm Mon-Friday and all day Saturday.

I have up until recently going to this practice for about 10 years. I have always found the support staff at the counter very friendly and always showed a lot of interest towards my dogs. The vets have generally been okay.
However this changed dramatically this year. For some reason this practice has not been able to keep their vets and turnover has been monumental. Die to the very high turnover and insufficient permanent vets they no longer have vets available on Saturday.
The high turnover means that I am consistently meeting a new vet who knows nothing about my dogs. The questions they ask reveal that they never read the file notes, perhaps due to the limited time they have between appointments added to an unfamiliarity with the place and systems. I this problem has led to misdiagnosis of conditions, a lack of proper advice.
Both my dogs were signed up to the Total Wellness Plan. At first it was recommended and encouraged to book in once a month for a consultation as they’re free under this programme. However with the staffing upheavals I noted that the advice changed to “it’s unnecessary to come in every month” and felt like we were an imposition.
Anyway this staffing issue led t to some mistakes and finally a very tragic outcome for one of my dogs. I feel terrible that I put up with this decline so long and feel that I too contributed to this outcome for not changing vets. I have decided that I can’t trust this practice any longer and have chosen a new practice.
To me I think it’s unreasonable for a large company such as this to find it acceptable to have such a high turnover. The vet I have chosen to go to now has no such issue.
I just hope that no one else has to experience the pain of your family pet having been poorly looked after like what happened to me. I really hope that this practice solve their staffing issue and maintain a stable pool of vets so that the welfare of animals in their care receive the best service.

Amazing, caring vets. We have a fussy cat, Aslan, who just turned 8 yrs old. We’ve been with vet west for a while and have great experience with them. Joe is an amazing vet, who spent the time to calm our Aslan to check his heart and lungs.
Aslan has to do a blood test for an overall check up. He’s been a cranky boy. The vets at vet west organised multiple different sessions so Aslan doesn’t get too stressed. They’ve been very patient with our fussy, cranky Aslan.

This is the vet we normally visit as it is closest to our house. Recently had my dad take my dog to the vet to check on a wound he had to see if it would require stitching. Checked on it and gave him some antibiotics. Normally I will decline getting these from the vet and opt to go to a pharmacy as the price difference is quite a lot. Seeing the invoice just now has made really mad as they have charged 21 tablets of amoxycillin with clavulanic acid at $74.97. This is seriously a joke, as I am a pharmacist myself I know exactly how much this costs so it is quite ridiculous what they are charging. Recommend to go there for your vet needs but definitely see if you can get the medication elsewhere.

My dog Dudley had a stroke last Monday and we rushed him to this vet. Seems like a very busy clinic and they were neither rude or friendly, just matter of fact. I asked if I could spend a few minutes with my dog before he was put down and the vet kindly took me to a private room which I appreciated. After he was put down within two minutes the receptionist came in with the remote eftpos machine and made me pay then and there. I am holding my dogs little head and reaching for my wallet at the same time. I said then and there that I could of made payment at reception. Just as feedback if you are going to let the owner say goodbye in a private room then let them have that moment and let them compose themselves and pay at reception after they have said their goodbyes and leave the private room.

Jacob in particular was extremely concerned and after recommending that the dog went to emergency care, he followed up repeatedly as did other staff. We found a stray dog at Mill Point Rd, at 8.00pm,Saturday the 31/11/19.Then we let him spend the night at home. Then took him to the park, South Perth, walking around, to hopefully, someone will recognise him. We asked everyone, if they knew the dog. Nobody did. So, we took him, to Vet west, South Perth, to surrender him, at, 8.00,am,1/12/19.The next day. And by, 2.30pm,his owners had picked him up… My partner and I cried for him, to find his home and his mum, or dad. He is such a beautiful old boy, we have 2 dogs ourselves and we would hate it if they were lost but hopeful someone would do the right thing like we have. God bless all the animals lost, big and small. We are so happy for him and his family. Without making the decision,to take him to Vet West, he would not have got home. Good Job, Vetwest.Bye Boy. Xxx

Well i took my dog there last year and after 3 to 4 werks and spending $1200 my dog died because you guys didnt pick up he had pneumonia i had to be told by the eye specialist in manning she couldnt operate because he was too sick etc. he had a blood test and he had an infection
Helpful Review 5and no antibotics had been given to me it was the eye specialists that told me to take him back and she would email you to give him antibotics. he died the next day had he been given antibiotics he would have been ok but it was too late. AND I AM STILL MAD AS HELL

Great Vets here and all the staff are really friendly and helpful. Easy to get to, parking at the back, ramp to door, dog washing facility available behind vet also.

Fantastic service. Truly lovely staff. Reasonable prices as well. If you shop around you will find they have comparatively good prices and bonus, their staff are excellent. They give good advice as well!
