In the Wilkes-Barre location I had a terrible experience with two associates Megan and Allie in the fish department me and my son were out shopping all afternoon for school clothes and I made a promise to him a few days ago that if he cooperated and was a good boy that he would be rewarded with the fish that he wanted I’ve had this fish before I’ve had fish tanks for 30 plus years in my home I have experience with tropical fish goldfish indoor tanks ponds saltwater tanks. Instead of greeting me and treating me nicely Megan and Allie decided to just belittle me everything I said they had a response and a question to and it wasn’t nice it wasn’t friendly it was degrading it was belittling they made me feel stupid and at the end of the day Allie denied me the sale of a fish. My son was saddened and my feelings were hurt that I wasn’t able to enjoy the rest of my afternoon with my son and go in the pet store and get him happy and excited for his fish which he was very happy and excited but he had to walk out with sad face on and broken heart because we were told no to the purchase of a fish!
Helpful Review# she stated she was concerned about the fish and didn’t want it to die once it left the store! I expressed to her I thought she should have the same concern for the 10 gallon tank that was full of about 300 to 400 goldfish that were named feeders that everyone of those fish in that tank could possibly leave the store and die it made no sense. I should not have been treated the way I was treated. I should not have been talked to as a customer the way I was talk to. It was just a disgusting terrible experience. And I don’t want anyone else to have to deal with this like I had to..
Also Allie did have 2 young girls also shopping for fish. She did not question them like she questioned me she did not treat them the way she treated me those girls pointed to the tanks that I want two of these two of those they were backed up and they were on their way and they had a conversation about me while I was standing 5 feet away so not only degrading me to my face but now she’s talking to other customers about me and I wasn’t causing a scene. I was regretting the store choice I made.
In all there are quite a few people I want to say 11 to 15 maybe people that were all in this area that all heard this going on and we’re all staring me down because at that time I was agitated being told I wasn’t allowed to make a purchase!!!
I have filed a formal complaint with PetSmart and I have contacted a lawyer I nor anyone else should ever have to deal with the situation that I had to deal with yesterday as a customer in a store.

Some of the items are a bit expensive, but for what I know this PetSmart does not endanger their animals or throw them away alive. Most PetSmarts will throw their fish away ALIVE and toss rodents alive in the trash.
I regular here and the staff is very nice and helpful, they take care of their animals and aquatics as much as they can. They also let their adoption cats go out in the back room to play, cool down, and eat/drink which is better then keeping them in a hot isolated cage all day.
The water conditions are never actually bad here in the aquatics, whereas you can go to Petco down the street and get sick fish constantly with no information about it.
I won’t rate this a 5 star though because I have heard many experiences about PetSmart as a business but from what I know this store does not endanger their animals or products.
