David is an incredible trainer who has transformed our adolescent Russian Black Terrier, Boris. His manner, his knowledge and communication skills with both Boris and us as a family was amazing. 3 weeks away from his family, Boris has returned a changed boy – something has clicked in his little black brain 🙂 Thank you David for your incredibly skilled transformation of our giant adolescent Blackie. thank you to Naomi for grooming him to look so handsome, and to the whole team for an immaculate, beautiful facility. Boris is happy, healthy and now is an absolute pleasure to have at home and out in the real world. David is a magician!

I used Homesteads training at home program and had Emily assist with a wide range of issues I was having with my two dogs at home.
From the very first meeting Emily showed how patient, knowledgeable and most importantly encouraging she was. Every time she visited the things she taught me and my dogs just seemed to click, it was like magic. If it wasn’t for her encouragement I think I would have thought it was hopeless but Emily was honestly fabulous.
I remember saying to Emily at the beginning, one of my goals was to have “cafe dogs” so I could enjoy bringing them along on outings. We are still practicing lots but both have successfully been able to have calm cafe visit, something I would not have imagined possible at the start of the year.
Cannot thank it recommend Emily enough for her guidance.

If I could give no stars I would.
Helpful Review 4Took our beautiful boy there a few years ago, for a 2 week board and train service, to be called halfway through saying he needed longer. So we agreed, as they were the apparent experts..
When we went to pick him up he had lost a heap of weight, was frightened and very timid.
We got him home and he was just a shell of the dog we dropped off
Scott actually admitted to kicking him to try and get him to respond to their treatment..
He was never the same after that very expensive holiday.
I would seriously reconsider any booking you may have here.

We highly recommend Homestead Kennels. Their work with our 6 month old GSP was amazing. She has come back to us with skills that we’d have taken months or years to develop. The facilities are clean and their people are top-rate. You can tell they start with people who love dogs. Our Border Collie Mötley has just had his second stay here for the board and train program. I can’t recommend Homestead highly enough. I give these guys 10/10! We now have our gorgeous 11 month old, 45kg AMStaff back after the 3 week board and train program. This is the best money we have ever spent. Leroy is a lot calmer and actually trainable. Prior he barked and jumped on everyone, he walked me not me walk him and we couldn’t control him at all. After seeing all the positive reviews and success stories on the Homestead Facebook page, we reached out to the team to see if they could help with our 3.5 year-old rescue German Shepherd and her reactiveness to people and dogs.
From our first interaction, the team were so supportive and caring, answering all our questions and concerns regardless of how silly they may have been. They offered us the opportunity to come in and meet the team and assess the reactiveness of our dog, Ducky.
From the moment we arrived everyone we spoke to was so caring and understanding of our situation. We spent time with Anthony who again addressed our concerns and reassured us of the training our girl would receive. He discussed in length the issues we have on a day to day basis and what we would like to see as a long term goal. During the assessment, every step of the way was determined by Ducky. Anthony never rushed her into a situation and allowed her time to settle and she even approached him a few times on her own. This reassured us that we were not on a time schedule and he was there for Ducky. By the time we left the assessment we felt so comfortable and they even set up an overnight stay for Ducky to see if she would be fine in the facility. Again, when we dropped her off for the night Anthony allowed her the time she needed to get settled before taking her through. When picking her up the next day Anthony took the time to let me know how she went and reassured me that the team had no concerns looking after her.
When we went to collect Ducky at the end of her stay, we met with her trainer Peter who sat us down and discussed how she went, what she had learnt and next steps for her success when she is home with us. Pete answered all our questions we had come up with while doing our online training. The hand over really reassured us of ways we can continue to train Ducky at home and that we were on the right path. It was clear that Ducky had built a bond with Pete during her stay which was lovely to see and confirmed she was well looked after while there.
We have noticed an improvement in her reactiveness when out and about, even with the dog next door that she hates. She is also more responsive to us and our commands which we love. We have had follow up calls from Pet to check in on how we are going and allowed us to make sure we are progressing correctly. It is great to have that ongoing support there.
We definitely recommend Homestead to any fur parent whether it is just boarding while on holidays or needing more assistance like the board and train program, it has taken a lot of stress out of training.

Don’t hesitate! Homestead know what they are doing, are highly trained, but most importantly demonstrate confident yet respectful expertise when it comes to dogs and training/boarding. The grounds are immaculate, and the dogs seem genuinely at ease and happy to be there.after a consult with Anthony we were sold and have booked in our boy for board and train. Highly recommend and so relieved to find a place we can trust.

What can I say!! The Board & Train has been the most amazing experience for our boy Oskar and for us as well! We sent our 1yo Border Collie, Daisy, to the Board & Train program whilst we went on holidays. From start to finish, the service was fantastic. The facilities are absolutely beautiful and Daisy had the best trainer – David. We could tell Daisy absolutely loved David, and the care from him was genuine for her. We have learnt so much both from David and also the Homestead online training material. David is an expert with working dogs and really understands their special behaviours. Daisy has come home a much better listener and we are so pleased with her training. We would highly recommend David for any working dogs, and the Board & Train program in general!

Helpful ReviewFrom start to finish Homestead we’re incredible. They answered all of my questions and really took the time to understand me and our dog Henry even before we had booked him in.
The staff onsite are loving and caring, and I had no hesitation on leaving Henry in their capable hands…. I did shed a tear or so, but I had no doubt he would be well looked after and loved; just like home!
Henry’s trainer, David was 10/10! He was receptive to our desires around training and care, and he blew us away with the passion he demonstrated to Henry and all the animals. Since having Henry home we have seen a remarkable change, and the hand over sessions were invaluable to set our little family up for the best of success.

We searched far and wide to find the right place to assist with dog training. Our little boy had become quite restless and agressive and started to bite. We felt we were going to loose our dog. They were experienced and upon picking him up for his 3 week training we had hope again and so grateful. We will absolutely bring our dogs to Homestead for boarding and training. It doesn’t just benefit the humans it benefits the dog too. Great team!

If we could give 6 stars, we would. The team at Homestead are amazing. Any questions we have they have been super quick to answer via email or over the phone. They love our dog as much as we do. We have had our dog Rockie stay over night as well as the board and train program that she completed with David. David has trained Rockie to be more confident and well behaved. Frank, our almost 2 yr old GWP, stayed for the Board and train program. Since getting him as a puppy, we had tried a range of trainers and techniques to help us with his anxiety and reactivity to people. From my first call with Anthony, and through the personalised assessment session, to the drop off and incredibly thorough and helpful handover session with David, his trainer, the service and care for our special boy (and us!) has been exceptional. To see how much Frank’s confidence has grown and him interacting with different people is amazing. David has developed a great relationship with Frank, and was able to talk through and demonstrate the first stage of our training focus now we have Frank home. We’ve got a lot to practice and it’s amazing to know the team at Homestead will be there to keep supporting us through the next stages! Can’t recommend the board and train program highly enough and wish we’d got Frank there sooner.

We cannot say enough good things about Homestead or recommend their Board and Train program enough.
We have a very challenging Labrador x Great Dane who had impulse control issues and reactivity to just about everything. We had previously invested a lot in private training with another training school which had got us so far with obedience but just didn’t address the underlying issues.
From our initial enquiry right through to our comprehensive handover, the Homestead team are professional, dedicated and thorough. We walked away feeling so empowered to continue to progress our dog, and that came from fully engaging in the online modules that you do alongside your dog’s training program, and the patience of the trainers in the handover session in explaining everything clearly to us.
We know for most the Board and Train program is a substantial investment, it certainly was for us and we thoroughly researched in advance of sending our dog. But with realistic expectations on what our dog could achieve, we have been blown away with what Homestead have achieved. For us, it’s been worth every cent, and more. Homestead have enabled us to enjoy dog ownership again, and allowed our dog to enjoy life, with her more confident and relaxed demeanour.
We will certainly be back for extra sessions to continue to build our dog’s skills because we’re so happy with the services that Homestead offer.
A special thank you to Jess who was our dog’s main trainer. Your expertise, patience and positivity is outstanding and we’ll be forever thankful to you, and the whole Homestead team.

Our whole experience with the team at Homestead has been top-notch!
From the point of my first enquiry about the board and stay program to the drop-off to the updates to the pickup to the online training courses and follow-up. It was what Homestead said who they are and what they stand for – i.e. believing that every dog is an individual and should be treated as such and providing a personalized and unique experience for each dog in their care. We certainly got that for our 3.5yo Japanese Akita Inu, Bearface, during his 4 weeks stay at Homestead.
Thank you Andrew for giving us the confidence in your approach towards training and understanding Bearface as an individual. This is coming from someone who just got told by another dog day-care that they can’t take Bearface “till he is better as he is anxious and probably needs to see the vet to be put on medication”.
Thank you Katherine, Alaina, Lisa for the prompt replies to all my emails and questions and the big warm welcome at drop off.
Thank you so much David and team – all who have taken such good care of Bearface during the 4 weeks. He obviously loves the place and all of you.
Thank you David, not just for being Bearface’s trainer but giving him your love and care throughout. Your patience, understanding of Bearface and workouts with him – you made it look very easy. Even our friend was amazed at Bearface’s loose lead walking around the few other dogs. I love how Bearface will focus on you and your instructions despite my son being that big distraction near him. I am sure all the work done and more to come will make every waking moment with Bearface even more enjoyable and precious!

I strongly recommend Homestead to anyone who needs either boarding alone or boarding+training. The Boarding & Training Program has been a very impressive and pleasing experience from start till end. The place itself – with its facilities and grounds – is beautiful.

I booked my 8 month old Borzoi puppy in for Homestead Kennels Board and Train program. Borazois are a stubborn breed and I was having difficulty making progress with her on lead manners.
Since getting her back her on lead behaviour has improved 100%, she loose lead walks and will walk calmly past people, dogs and runners without pulling and jumping at them.
Megan and the entire team at Homestead are so responsive and generous with their time and information and it is clear they absolutely love working with the dogs. Absolutely would recommend.

I took my dog Tank to the 3 weeks board and train program as I was struggling with him on the lead on walks as he would want to pull and try and catch bikes and joggers….. well he is a border collie well he came to the program as a border collie and came back as a border collie cross aussie shepherd 😆. I had David as the trainer as he specialises in these breed and has a great understanding of them. On the hand over I could tell straight away the difference. So much better on the lead no pulling and has the best eye contact. It has only been a few days but with the training in the backyard I can see the difference the big test will be when I go on a long walk and see bikes and joggers. If you have a border collie, aussie shepherd, kelpie etc David is your man.

We brought our 1 year old French Bulldog Bernie to Homestead Kennels for a 3 week training program with Jess. The transformation we have seen in him has been astounding! Before being trained by Jess his obedience was pretty low and wouldn’t listen to any of our commands. He now walks on a loose lead, can sit / drop / stay and is overall a much more calm and relaxed dog.

I contacted Homestead Kennels as a last resort. I was given a dog for my 5th birthday and have had one by my side for the last 50 years. Gingy’s anxiety was terrifying for her and me. My vet wanted her to go on anxiolytics and thought that the board and train program wouldn’t work. It did! Ginger has come home with soooo much more confidence and with vastly improved behaviours. 2 months later the gains are continuing as we both build our trust in each other and in the strategies we learned from Homestead. I am eternally grateful and will be over the moon when we can start the home training visits. Jess was amazing with both Ginger and me, helping us to learn the skills to have a joyous loving relationship.

I sent my 9 month old labrador to board and train as she was to bouncy and I was struggling. I was worried about leaving her,however it was obvious the people loved animals and knew exactly what they were doing. I picked Rosie up after a few weeks and Beck her trainer was so great at explaining to me how to continue with Rosies training. We are absolutely blown away with Homestead Training. They are so professional and clearly passionate about the animals in their care. We are over the moon with the progress with our boy Bruce. He left our home, very anxious and distracted, we picked him up this week and he is a certified good boy!! Peter, our handler took the time and effort to walk us through his training and progress and made sure that we felt empowered to be able to continue supporting Bruce’s learning and development. We cannot speak high enough of team at Homestead and the value we got out of Bruce being there and we will certainly be having him back there for a refresh. My cattle dog Wombat has just spent 3 weeks with David as part of the Board & Train program and the difference in his confidence and self control levels is remarkable. It was really hard to leave Wombat in the hands of anyone else but every staff member I met from Homestead was kind and had a natural way with dogs. I trust them completely. I feel very passionate about Homestead Kennels so this review could be long – the short version is that Homestead demonstrated great communication, professionalism, passion and knowledge. They have achieved incredible outcomes for us and our Dog, Madju. We highly recommend them.
From the outset, the interest and professionalism Homestead invested in our training enquiry, reassured us we we had come to the right place. When the day came to drop Madju off, we were greeted with patient and friendly staff, who invested further time gathering information and answering our questions. We left Madju with Homestead, feeling confident and at ease.
During our Madju’s training – we received regular updates from David, our dogs trainer. We also received some very impressive online training material to complete before returning. This training was enjoyable and very informative. It left me feeling empowered – armed with knowledge to carry through Madju’s training, once we got him home.
Upon our return to Homestead tp pick up Madju, David and his assistant, Meg, invested significant time with us – sharing observations and seeking to further understand his history and home situation – all before reuniting us with our dog. David clearly had spent considerable time with Madju, as had Meg.
If David and Meg’s knowledge and love for Madju wasn’t obvious already, it was highlighted by the relationship they had created in just 3 weeks. Our dog simply adored his trainers and the feeling was mutual. He had learnt so much!!! This was still our dog, but a dog feeling rewarded for controlling his own impulses. The next 2 hours were spent teaching us how to harness the new habits instilled in Madju. This was a truly enlightening experience and built on the concepts we learnt during the online training.
A week later – continuing Madju’s training at home has been rewarding for both us and our dog. Homestead have exceeded expectations. Our dog is happy, engaged and focused on us and the training. The potential of this new relationship seems limitless. Once unrealistic expectations seem well within reach.
I’m really looking forward to our refresher, and to show David what good humans and dog we all are together. I really appreciate you also checking in on us since we went home David . We certainly have passed on your hugs to “knucklehead”, as requested.
Homestead is a clear 5/5 review. I can’t recommend them enough. Their care and passion for dogs is inspiring. Everyone at homestead, including (and especially) the reception staff have just been incredible. Their training is simple to put into practice, empowering and effective.

I recently moved from the country to the city and my kelpie puppy began to chase cars and bikes, and pulled really hard on the leash. I was really stressed out and found it difficult to take him for walks, so I sent him to homestead to do the board and train program. The trainers and staff are all angels- very kind, trustworthy, supportive and knowledgeable. My puppy’s trainer David is a kelpie expert and worked magic with my dog. I took him for a walk this morning and he didn’t pull on the lead or try to chase cars or jump on people. He walked politely at heel the whole time- like a different dog ! I’m so happy with the results ! I feel like a weight has been lifted . I would definitely send my puppy back for training or to stay when I go on holidays. We sent our Westie for board and training for 21 days with Homestead.
He’s definitely a changed dog – he used to bark at anything that walked past and only ever knew how to pull on the lead. David did an amazing job with him. Our dog now just calmly watches the postman deliver stuff to the door!
My only negative feedback (the reason for a not 5 star rating) would be how our dog got somehow electrocuted from biting a hair dryer (his voice until now is impacted) and only being told upon pick up. Compared to our other 2 dogs, he’s the only one who actually loves bath time and the warmth from the hair dryer. Makes me question/wonder what would have triggered him to bite it.
All in all, highly recommend the board and training. Probably just request to exclude any groom/shower for your dog just in case.

This care has ranged from general boarding, board and training and now weekly training sessions. Our Labrador spent 3 weeks working with Preston at homestead kennels and all i can say is we wish we did it earlier! Preston answered all our questions and gave us all the skills and tools to feel confident in keeping her training up at home! Homestead is well worth every cent and I could not recommend them highly enough!

I don’t think anyone realises how difficult it is to raise a mentally and physically strong puppy until they are doing it – we certainly did not. We soon realised that it wasn’t so much about training the dog, but training the humans, and we needed a consistent training plan to achieve our goals particularly whilst we navigate the first 2 years of owning our first big dog.
Homestead was the fifth training program we tried. We were in fact booked in and sending our boy to a similar Board and Train program, but called Scott at Homestead for a consult and we quickly cancelled the booking and were dropping him off at Wonga Park before we knew it.
A few months down the track, we are living the results of that decision. Homestead’s Board and Train program helped us reinforce the fundamental behaviours that we required from our 45kg puppy. They have been diligent and patient while teaching us those valuable lessons, from the value of playing with your dog, relationship building, the importance of crate training and everything in between.
Above all we have gained invaluable support from the Homestead team. It hasn’t be a straight forward journey and it is an ongoing one, but they have dedicated an overwhelming amount of time to our family.
You need a consistent reference when raising a tricky puppy and we have found that one million times over with the entire Homestead team, particularly Lisa, Anthony, Pete and Ange. We can’t thank them or recommend them enough for making our life with our pup more manageable, and ultimately better for us and him.
We will never know what the outcome would’ve been if we’d sent our pup to the other Board and Train program, but what we do know is that we do no regret sending him to Homestead.

Cant praise Homestead enough. My wife and I were unfortunately separated from our animals overseas due to covid, and they boarded at homestead for 4 months. They were exceptionally well looked after. There aren’t enough words to express our gratitude to Anthony – and everybody at Homestead. We were pretty sure our Red would be the one to break the trainer – but to hear Anthony praise him for his abilities and progress was so heartwarming and encouraging.

The improvement in our beautiful, gentle giant is beyond what we could have envisaged. And we are so glad to have ongoing support from the team, should we need it.
I also need to commend everybody that we’ve had contact with at Homestead – you have shown understanding, compassion, friendliness and professionalism – all under the difficult & frustrating circumstances of covid lockdown.

We had a baby boy Cooper the Doberman attend the board and train program for 21 days.
Cooper progressed immensely in those 21 days and his training has deffinately stuck with him.
It’s early days but I’m confident Cooper is going to excel in the weeks to come.
We can’t thank Homestead Kennels and his trainer Preston enough, our future relationship with our pooch is looking amazing and can’t wait to test him in real life scenarios.

Amazing group of people.
Absolutely astounded with the care and loving attitude towards my little guy Oscar.
He is a changed puppy (for the better) and I can’t believe how happy he was when I picked him up.
Board and training program offered by Homestead Kennels is without doubt the best money you could spend on your furry family member.
Especially if time constraints play havoc with you consistent training regime’s.
Sound advice and great handover training (for me, not Oscar!!!!!) and very easy to follow instructions.
Can’t wait to be able to take him back for a refresher course to see to show off 😊

Arlo attended the Board and Train program at Homestead Kennel. He came back a completely different dog. When he went in he had severe pulling on lead issues and reactions to other dogs. We can now happily walk him. I would highly recommend Homestead to anyone looking to improve their dogs behaviour!

I am not one for writing reviews but I felt compelled to commend the Homestead Team on the level of care provided to both my beloved cat and our much loved senior dog. Scott & Tanya were outstanding in delivering the type of care one hopes for when leaving their fur babies behind. We have used many kennels and catteries over the years but none even come close to the professionalism I experienced at Homestead Kennels. If I could of given 10 stars I would of. Not only were both my babies returned to me in better condition than when I dropped them off, but they both clearly did not want to leave ! I would have no hesitation in recommending Scott & Tanya and Homestead for all things pet care related. I called you hesitantly and fearfully after a devastating and traumatic experience at another stay and train. Honeybell was recovering from the physical and emotional injuries sustained there. She was traumatised and was highly anxious and fearful. Her journey to be the 1st Therapy dog trained to work in Australian Neighbourhood House had suffered a serious set back.

Our German shepherd rogue has completed boarding and training twice with fantastic results. Gen is an incredible trainer. Everyone really cares about the dogs and we feel really welcome when we come back to pick our baby up. You can tell your dog has been well looked after. Highly recommend. Currently waiting on a quote to send all three of our fur babies here next September. Will continue to book with homestead anytime we go away without hesitation.

Our 2 yr old French Bulldog did a 25 day board and train. She is deaf and has some compulsive behaviour issues that add complexity to her training. Her trainer Gen did a brilliant job as did the whole team at Homestead. Frida will be back for more next time we are on holidays. Thanks again.
