My partner & I parted with 3 of our beautiful baby budgies this morning. Was more emotional about it then I thought I would be. This year, I have been blessed with a mating pair & Jess helped assure me just how well they would be looked after and how they would find really good new homes for them. What a star. Thank you Jess, was hard to let them go but you made the process so much better. Thank you Birdsville (and Jess) for the passion you have for all our birds needs and we loved doing business with you. Look forward to our next visit.

They have a great selection of mini lops and netherland dwarths. This place is great for getting rabbit, if you get one you should probaly get it vet checked straight away because they give you a refund withing three days. I highly recomend this store, we also bought a budgie from here, we tamed him and now he jumps on our sholders and watchs tv with us.

Well I bought a Netherland dwarf over 1 year ago and now she is all grown up. She is so massive and definately not a Netherland dwarf bunny. I paid a lot for her, I just expected that she would be a Netherland dwarf not some massive bunny.

They have great parrots that are kind of tame (scared) but it’s too overpriced. When I had a visit the SCARED (completely not tame) budgies were $80.Overall it’s great and has a selection of animal toys/perches which are great at a cheap price.

I have bought two budgies here so far, service has been great and I got most things I wanted for my budgies at the same time.

They even helped me when I had a new mum moment and convinced myself my budgie was ill, turned out she was perfectly fine haha.

I can’t go there atm because of the 5km limit but will return when Gladys allows me for more supplies and another bird.

I am thinking maybe a cockatiel or a quaker.

Went in to get 3 male rats. Overall experience in store was good however less stars based on after care.

Prior to visiting the store I emailed to check availability and received a response within a couple of hours.

They have a wide selection of affordable cages and supplies. Staff were knowledgeable about food and bedding except they weren’t sure what age the rats were as there were some smaller and bigger ones.

However I am left disappointed after I emailed the store 3 days ago informing that one of the rats had died within 9 days of purchase, without a response from the store. My concern also goes out to other rats as the vet I turned to just noted they have treated several rats coming from Birdsville in the past two weeks.

Due to the (lack of) after care experience I am losing potential long term trust in this place and as a professional animal carer and pet sitter I would therefor hesitate to recommend this store to my clients wanting more personal service.

Any response would have been and would still be appreciated.

Also after just having a look on the website I found that rats are priced $15 on the website while I paid $25 each which I would recommend you to update on the website.

Edit: turns out the other 2 rats are sick as well and it has already cost me a few hundred dollars on vet costs within the first 10 days. I take my responsibility, I don’t mind paying for the vet and I take my animals there for regular check ups but I’ve never experienced having all 3 rats sick within the first 2 weeks…. a $15 dollar rat as advertised on website is actually $140 each considering the $10 extra charged in store + vet costs

We love this place. It has everything we need for our little bun. Torwood Oaten hay is her favourite and they always have it in stock. Plus friendly, knowledgeable service. Highly recommend!

Unsafe enclosures for sale!
Although there are some good toys and accessories for small animals, the enclosures for rabbits, guineapigs, ferrets, rats and mice are very disappointing due to their small size. Their care sheets for these animals also seem quite misinformed. Would love to see some big changes there as this information is all readily available online but I also encourage pet owners to do their own research instead of relying on staff.

edit: want to clarify I am not talking about the animals in store but the cages and hutches advertised for them. Some of which can be seen in your own photos (eg. small mouse cages with inappropriate wheels)

This experience was a while ago and I have heard that they’ve done some updates on the store since then so I sincerely hope that their care and understanding of the beautiful creatures within their store has become a lot better, however I must say, it has not left a very good impression on me. Got my two little lovebirds from this store after being recommended by Kellyville Pets. At first, it seemed wonderful, a massive variety of toys and food and lots of sweet little birds out on play stands for people to come and coo over. But just a little further down, where the less ‘tame’ birds are kept, there were hundreds upon hundreds of tiny cages stuffed full of birds. My lovebirds were roughly grabbed out of their cage and shoved into a small carry cage. The staff were either too ‘scared’ to handle the birds or were just so rough and rude that I (and my family) honestly felt like walking out. We wanted two females and when we told the man who got the birds for us, he simply flipped them over to look at their underside and said ‘yep, female’ to both. First off, how can a shop who claims to have ‘professional’ bird handlers be so rough with such tiny and delicate animals, and how on earth do they expect to find out what gender a bird is by checking it’s underside??? Especially since peachfaced lovebirds are monomorphic. Unfortunately at the time I didn’t know any better but was still shocked at the treatment of the birds. Funnily enough, took them to the vet, one had psitticosis despite being ‘health guaranteed’ and both were male. Both hated hands despite being ‘hand tamed’ but I do understand that parrots can be a bit fickle like that, but after reading multiple reviews saying the same thing about their lovebirds, I’m starting to think it’s because they were shoved in a tiny cage with five other birds and were never socialised properly. The guy who got the birds should be sacked, totally unprofessional and either completely incompetent and knows nothing about birds or a liar because he couldn’t be bothered to actually find out or let us know that the birds were unsexed. However, the lady at reception was lovely, took us through the care process and helped us select toys and proper food. She was very thorough and gave us pamphlets and information that was essential for looking after my birds. Wouldn’t be recommending this store to anyone, unless, like I said earlier, things have gotten a lot better since the last time I was in there.

Birdsville sold me a green cheek conure with a contagious deadly untreatable virus (Polyomavirus), insisted I should bring the bird in for a refund, and continues to sell the other birds from this batch who nested with my bird during shedding times. Their responses were money-centric and not at all understanding, sympathetic or apologetic. Extremely disappointed. I hope for everyone’s sake they change soon and actually tell prospective owners about the diseases the birds in store may have, especially once one case has been double-confirmed.
They since said that they would respond to this review saying they offered multiple options, but all of them involved bringing my bird into the store, causing problems for their birds and the other storegoers. Birdsville has continued to be extremely rude on this issue and really has ruined their reputation. Get your birds directly from the breeder, it’s cheaper, more reliable, and better for the birds.

Edit. Birdsville said that I said I was too busy to come in. However, I was more than happy to come in, but I was very concerned about how my shedding, infectious bird might spread to other parrots in the store. It seems I cared more about Birdsville’s parrots than they do.
They also only replied to this review eight months later. Truly shameful. I would like to add that my vet, a vet recommended by Birdsville, recommended that I do not bring the bird into the store. Interesting that Birdsville recommends vets and then doesn’t heed their advice. Nothing I have seen suggests that you have contacted the new owners OR the breeder to inform them.

I’ve been here several times and I’ve always found the staff to be really friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. They’re pretty well-stocked and if they don’t have what you want they’ll get it in for you.
