Review Summary
Here's a summary of the most recent reviews on The Pet CommunitySydney Animal Hospitals Norwest has mixed feedback: many clients praise its friendly, polite staff, clean premises, and compassionate vets who explain options and keep pets calm, with long?standing customers highlighting excellent care, boarding and grooming services, and pets greeted by name. Yet some reviewers flag high medication and consultation prices, plus negative experiences such as muzzling a large dog during sedation, rude receptionists, misgendering a pet, or perceived misdiagnosis, signaling opportunities to improve customer service and price transparency. Overall, sentiment leans positive, underscoring expertise, empathy and reliable care while acknowledging pricing and service variations.

I recently had my cat at this practice.
Helpful ReviewI have looked up the price of medication they gave her.
I am horrified to see the prices they charged when these could have been purchased elsewhere at a much lower cost.
Pro-Kolin 15 ml paste charged $43 could buy elsewhere for $19
Cerenia tablets (4) 16mg charged $63 could buy elsewhere for $33-$38.
I will never take my cat to them again this is blatant overpriced treatment.
The consultation was above other vets in the area.
I only attended this vet as they could see my cat asap
They need to take a look at their prices
So I will not promote this business in a positive light just plain highway robbery

Always polite and friendly and very welcoming. They call out by your pets name which is inclusive and makes your pet feel comfortable. Extremely clean premises. Always on time. Highly recommend SAHN

Very disappointing experience at Sydney Animal Hospital Norwest. I have taken my dogs here before and have never had a problem until this weekend.
My dog has never once shown any sign of aggression however because he is a large breed dog, they were adamant on muzzling him when sedating him. This was absolutely appalling and disgusting to even suggest as this would only stress him out as he has never worn one before… He is naturally calm at the vet and will let them touch, poke and prod him, however, they wouldn’t listen when we said he wasn’t aggressive in any way. After speaking to our regular vet about this experience they were also shocked as they had frequently referred patients here when necessary (however this will change).
Then when we suggested to sedated him in his front leg because he is more calm if he can see what you’re doing the vet refused to listen and proceeded use his back leg. Not to mention this also hurt him as he yelped in pain which he had never done before (and this isn’t my dogs first rodeo with needles/sedation).
And the final strike was on pick up the receptionists were rude and clearly oblivious as they were referring to our male dog as “her/she.” Would it kill you to show some compassion and reassurance to dog owners.
All in all, will never return here and recommend the same for other pet owners as this vet has no compassion or care for the animals they see.

Despite the poor customer service by one of the receptionists, the other was lovely, the vets are very good, polite and ask all the right questions.

Had been going to this vet for years, usually with great help & empathy from staff. Not too sure what’s changed recently but I took my cat here for vomiting, not eating, not drinking, not going to the bathroom and they sent me away to monitor as they were sure it was a behavioural. I monitored him for 24hrs with no improvement and took him back again the next day… continuing with the same symptoms but the vet was still convinced this was behavioural.
That night I took him to the emergency vet at ARH Baulkham Hills where they admitted him straight away as his temp was 39.5 degrees and he was extremely sick & lethargic. ARH kept him for 2 nights and I picked him up on the Monday morning where they instructed me to bring him back to a regular vet for an ultrasound and to be hooked back up to an IV. I rang SAH in advance to organise an ultrasound and to have him hooked back up to fluids, Naomi was lovely and sympathetic and was ringing to see what she could do.
I drove here regardless as he needed his IV reattached.. the other lady at the desk (didn’t catch her name) was SO rude! Arguing with me saying my cat had had an ultrasound when he hadn’t in the end said “well just take a seat then” – I then went in to see the vet as ARH suspected my cat had aspiration pneumonia. Vet flat out said to me “I know our name says hospital but we’re not a hospital” so basically my cat was dying and they couldn’t do a single thing to help… Saw the same vet all 3 visits charged $500 for an incorrect diagnosis and he didn’t even apologise for his incorrect diagnosis.
I rushed him to SASH where they diagnosed him with pancreatitis and saved his life. I would never return to this vet as I was told to monitor my cat for another 5-7days even though he wasn’t eating, drinking, going to the bathroom. Overall extremely poor veterinary care & wouldn’t recommend.

I was very happy with the treatment of Eadie. The vet warned me in advance if any teeth needed extracting the cost would increase. He was very good handling her as she is very nervous but not aggressive. I feel the cost was quite reasonable with the July special and in addition they included a bag of hills science dental food.

I have used SAH since 1996. My first 3 dogs were born in 1996,98,99. The staff have always been friendly, compassionate and helpful. SAH also offer boarding and grooming services.
The main reason I use SAH is for their expert team of vet surgeons who diagnose and treat simple ailments and the complex medical needs of animals. In the past, SAH called specialists to their surgery for X-rays and ultrasounds if necessary. The care, investigations and treatment is excellent. Vets
consult to offer you as many options for treatment as possible.
During a difficult time in the past, SAH went the extra mile to offer services at their surgery to assist my Labrador. The staff communicated the progress of my pet during surgery, and in her recovery! That eased the burden on everyone at home.
Our family have ou me second round of pets, born in 2012/14/18/21. They are small 2 dogs & 2 cats. I trust SAH to oversee their care as they did for my previous pet babied.
I don’t write too many reviews, but this one is worth it for those who want a vet that treats your pet with expertise, the utmost care, professionalism and logic. As they deserve!

Went there to get a rabies shot and then to get a blood sample taken 30 days later for my dogs overseas travel. Dr Armin Yarand was excellent. From day one he was willing to work with me to make sure the sample was taken, packed and sent correctly. He was very attentive to details and extremely helpful. The price for all this was very reasonable as well. I highly recommend!

Brought my 8 week old pup in for a free consult. Everything was fine. Staff was exceptional.
That night l gave the pup her scheduled intestinal worming tablet (from the breeder) my pup experienced Diarrhea and severe Vomiting the next morning.
Called SAH, they were happy to see pup even on short notice. Jo & Jess were great in keeping me calm. When l got there, pup was experiencing blood in her bowels and I felt horrible leaving a mess in the reception. They didn’t let me clean it up and cleaned it promptly.
Jess and Jo were amazing providing me with updates regularly throughout the evening. Pup stayed overnight and was put on a drip.
Vet yuqin & dr Ashley were superb, both kept me calm, their care for animals is evident and they provide great explanations.
The next morning I was updated regularly and came into see pup. Was greeted by the whole team on duty with big smiles!
Special thanks to Yuqin & dr Ash the Vets , Jo, Jess, Teresa, Rhonda & management team, it all starts from the above and you can see that the team here are serious professionals.

The vets are usually very helpful here but the receptionist can be impolite at times. Once, two receptionists (or nurses) were giggling with each other while I was left standing there for a while before they attended to me. On another occasion, the receptionist got annoyed when I called to ask a few more questions. During my last visit, a man was trying to ask about a transfer of his dog to the clinic but nobody seemed to bother and the receptionist simply asked him to call the company himself. There are, of course, some really good staff, but one rotten apple can always easily spoil the whole barrel.

his two knees and both knee surgeries have been done by Dr Sam Haynes who has been very kind, extremely professional, competent and caring for my dog. He rang me pre and post surgeries explaining aegis condition, expected prognosis, and how the surgery went for each time of the surgery (two knees were done at different times). With the first knee which was the first ever surgery for aegi, i was extremely anxious and had so many anxiety attacks about my aegis recovery hence rang the clinic almost once in every two days. All the staff were willing to kindly listen to my concern and provided answers to my concerns. As I was so satisfied with the care, Aegi had another surgery for his other knee, same by Dr Sam. It was so worth to drive 2hours for return travel (I chose this clinic based on google reviews after comparing 20 clinics and I believe I have chosen well the right clinic and right surgeon for my aegi!). Thank you so much for looking after my aegi well Dr Sam and staff at the clinic in Norwest!
