Took my Maggie for a cocker style cut last week in my first visit. Sue and her team are patently very well credentialed and I perceived Sue is rightly proud of the professional level of service she provides. I am smart enough to listen and take advice from such an experienced operator and, in conjunction with my styling preferences which Sue acknowledged, Maggie was groomed ideally and for a fair price.

Therefore I can’t fault Sue’s emphasis on forward booking in your darling and also being disciplined in respecting the drop off and pick up times. Ist time visit and both my dog Tahlia and I are very pleased with the care given. Tahlia is almost 12 with cushings disease. The staff were very caring and I must say this was exceptional service for both Tahlia and myself. I thoroughly recommend them

What can I say, completely negative unpleasant experience each time we’ve visited. Sue is so rude, disrespectful with a bullying attitude and it feels like the customer is not valued. There always seems to be an extra charge for this and that which somehow is not included in the advertised price such that the visit yields little value for money. Plenty of other groomers around these days many of whom are lovely and give good service for the fee charged.

There’s a recent review here that seems linked to an incident that I observed when collecting my dogs from Doggies Day Out last week. It is a negative review. If it is the same person or owners who were collecting their dog before me I really need to clarify some things and set the record straight. What I observed that day was aggressive and abusive behaviour from a customer. Not from the service provider. I entered the waiting area to pick up my dogs and was confronted by a very angry customer. He was pacing and yelling out at the groomers out the back to hurry up. The behaviour of the customer was really aggressive. The Manager came out and was trying to explain that they would only be a few minutes and that they were just finishing the groom of his dog. The customer escalated even further. It seems the reason for this was because the manager had pulled the blind down on the window to the grooming room. I later found out that was because the behaviour of the customer was so intense it was making the groomers uncomfortable. The customer was demanding they stop grooming and the groomer was obviously trying to do that but it wasn’t fast enough for this man. It was really stressful to watch. The manager came back out front to try to talk to the customer, advising that she had asked the groomer to stop but he was really angry and was trying to break through the gate while he demanded his dog to be bought out. From what I could glean the manager was really trying to talk to him, explaining the reason for the delay. He wouldn’t listen. She appeared incredibly calm under the circumstances. He was rattling the door and I actually thought he might break it. I stepped right to the corner of the shop at this point. I was now feeling anxious and thinking I should get out of there. That’s how intense the behaviour was. When the manager was out back he attempted to draw me in to his concern and I was so uncomfortable I froze. I put my hands up and said ‘I am not getting involved’. I wish now that I had been brave enough to call out the behaviour. The manager then came out with the customer’s dog and went to place the dog down and the owner snatched the dog off her. It was full on. He then threatened her and said he would not be coming back. The manager was visibly shaken by this incident and I actually asked is she was ok after the customer had left. It’s one thing for someone to articulate their wants and needs and even dissatisfaction. But it’s another when doing so borders on abuse. That is never ok. I felt so sorry for those poor groomers. They were clearly shaken and in shock. From my perspective the customers dog did not look distressed at all, just happy to see his owner as any dog is when they are reunited with their family. So I felt the need to write this response because there are always two sides. If the review below is in fact affiliated with that customer then I hope they read this and realise the impact their behaviour had on several people that day. I should add, we are really happy with the service, care and quality of the grooming provided here. Our dogs have always been highly anxious about grooming and I have been really impressed by the care taken to relax them and the quality of the grooming at Doggies Day Out. I’m always kept informed of the time required and appreciate that it takes time to do things right. So I would definitely recommend

An incredibly unpleasant experience, the owner Sue is extremely rude and pushy, giving lectures every time we go and that we cannot miss a grooming session even though our dog has short hair. Seems like money might be a key factory rather than caring for the dogs. Our dog hates going there and he has to stay for an unnecessary 5 hours and when we arrive he isn’t ready… what have they been doing for 5.5 hours? when watching him get groomed through the window they are anything but gentle, and when seeing us watching Sue closed the blinds. Extremely rude. We asked her not to shave him, and she replied with she will do what she wants. Sorry I thought we pay for this service and it’s up to us?
After telling her to stop and we’ve had enough, she basically threw our dog aggressively on the floor rather than gently giving him over. For someone that works with pets I don’t know how you can be so careless and this behaviour is atrocious. Our dog was so distressed by the most recent experience. We are happy to never go there again.

While I have no record of Gabby Samkova being one of our customers, I would like to respond to her defamatory remarks, as it appears she’s describing an incident involving somebody else, on his behalf. Regular grooming is in the best health interest of dogs which we explain to customers when they first visit us for a consultation and is recommended for the health and hygiene of the dog, not as part of an upselling strategy. Customers drop their dogs off in the morning and pick them up in the afternoon, so we groom dogs throughout the day and take care of them the rest of the time. The customer did not book his dog in at a specific time and then have to wait over five hours for the procedure to be done. It was explained that the dog would be groomed within a certain timeframe. The accusation that a staff member threw the dog aggressively on the floor is completely false. We have cctv of what took place when a customer requested we cut a grooming session short because it was taking too long. We are committed to the health and safety of dogs and would never mistreat them in this way. All the staff members present and a customer in the store recall this client being extremely rude and acting very aggressively, making everyone in the room visibly shaken and uncomfortable. I told this customer that his patronage was no longer welcome as I have to protect my staff. I assume this is reason he has resorted to having a misleading review written. While we take customer complaints and concerns very seriously, I cannot rectify a situation that never took place.

Was unable to use this service, but booked to do so, expecting to be paying $80 for a small dog per the booking, the email that came out stated $95 was the start rate. Booking was cancelled.
Edit: Clear expectation would be a small dog starts at $95 then on your website, wouldn’t you think? The money wasn’t the issue, the changing price was.

Before I even owned a dog I noticed this place from walking my kids to and from school everyday. The owner was always painting, repairing, putting a water dish out, painting little paws on the sidewalk, often doing the work herself. I thought what amazing dedication and hard work she puts into her business and took note to bring a pet in the future . I have a dog now and I brought her in to be groomed a few times, I have a German Spitz, she always looks breed appropriate when she comes out, ready to step into the show ring (lol she’s no show dog) I really appreciate the time and effort that going into grooming a double coated breed, I have only had good experiences here, and look forward to bringing her back.
