Amazing place and lovely staff members that are willing to provide support/advice/help when needed.

We are so so thankful to u all, the whole team of SOUTHPAWS. U all are amazing. Coz of u all our BABY BUZZO got another chance to live his life with us. So thankful for sending us pictures of our handsome boy. The care and love u provided to him is just so recommendable. U are like second God to all the fur babies. We did trust u all n knew that our baby is in safe hands.

Our little Frenchie Truck is basically our child so when I started toying with the idea to get his airway surgery done for a better quality of life I was extremely nervous.
Dr Katherine Duncan outlined the whole procedure to me in detail at a pre consultation and ensured I was completely knowledgeable about everything involved. This was incredible as it really put my mind at ease. On the day of Trucks surgery we ran through everything again as well as how his recovery would look and how I could best care for him. It was hard leaving him at the hospital however I received an update via text when he went under and within a few hours Dr Katherine called me telling me how successful his went. They also updated me a few times afterwards.
I would recommend the team at Southpaws to anyone with a Brachy dog. Their expertise and care shows in the quality of care they provide, not only to your beloved pet but to you as the owner.
Thanks guys, if Truck ever needs another surgery done you will be our go to.

I cannot recommend the Moorabbin team enough. After having such a negative experience a different place when my dog was a puppy gave me a lot of anxiety leaving him with anyone else. Southpaws instantly made me feel so much more comfortable from the first phone call. Dr Blaine took care of my dog, Moo from the first day, he had a knee surgery, Dr Blaine kept me updated with everything throughout the surgery process and the post op care Moo received whilst having a sleepover with the lovely nurses. Steph, one of the receptionists was just beautiful. She loved Moo as if he was her own pet, Moo loved to get all the pats and snuggles from her. Dr Aaron and Dr Sean did Moos follow up appointments and are amazing too, very informative and caring and gave me a lot of confidence in what was done with Moos knee. I sincerely appreciate every single person who works here, you are all amazing! Moo and I are so grateful that we got to have this experience with the best team of vets and nurses. I hope I never have to see any of you again, in the nicest way possible. But if I do, I Atleast know I can trust you all. Forever thankful x

Our dear Robbie the dachshund became paralysed overnight with the dreaded IVDD. South paws were extremely empathetic, informative and fast. Robbie was in surgery within hours and I received at least 3 phone calls to update me from beginning of surgery, end of surgery and when he’d woken up. I received twice daily updates but also had any questions answered whenever I rang. They haven’t made me feel annoying or silly for my million and one questions and requests for photos of Robbie. Anytime I called the staff knew exactly who I was and who Robbie was which made me feel comforted knowing they genuinely cared for him and got to know all their patients. I couldn’t have been happier with the treatment and care received at South paws. Every single staff member we encountered was patient, kind and caring.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about the team at Southpaws Moorabbin. From the moment I walked through the door I knew that both Alfie (my sweet little cat who had been diagnosed with kidney failure) and I were in the very best hands. From the initial surgical consult, to the anxiety-riddled post surgery days and all the way into his post op recovery, the team at Southpaws were incredible. I was kept informed every step of the way (from surgery risks to post op care) and importantly, felt that Alfie was with people who genuinely cared for him. Seeing his joy at the pats and cuddles he got from the team warmed my heart. Thank you to Dr. Blaine, Dr. Liam, Dr. Tammy, Dr. Leah, Audrey, Shannon and everyone else at the surgery for looking after Alfie (and me!) so well. Our fur babies are family and the care, consideration and kindness that you showed us during this time will never be forgotten.

Absolutely amazing!
Helpful ReviewDr. Charles took the time to explain everything to us, was super kind with our Ollie and clearly has skills beyond that of many other surgeons.
The critical after care team post-op was also exceptional! The nurses took great care and gave Ollie lots of love during his stay and the vets kept us well informed regularly.
Highly recommend Southpaws to anyone who wants exceptional care for their dog.

This place was recommended by a friend so we got a referral from our vet to bring Stripey over. Sadly our cat was put down a few hours later at Southpaws.
Helpful ReviewHowever, the staff at Southpaws was very knowledgeable and helpful. The vet we spoke to was very nice and considerate with her recommendations.
This place is very clean unlike other places we go to and I was glad Stripey passed away in a clean environment. They provided us as much time as we needed even tough the reception team clocked off work.
Very few people we speak to show compassion and care.

Couldn’t be more happier with the treatment my 12 year old toy poodle Elmo received. Old dog going under anaesthetic is always alarming but Jeff from southpaws ensured that elmo will be in safe hands and in good care. His currently recovering from a benign surgery and Is alert and well. Thank you southpaws for the amazing care and work put in to ensuring dogs receive the best treatments.

I want to thank Dr Lorna and Indya (sorry if I remembered your name wrong!) at the reception for taking my call last week, while I was distressed and feeling helpless. I live in Melbourne but I have two family dogs in China that have recently been tested positive for Leishmaniasis, a rare disease that can be transmitted to humans via sandflies. Chinese law enforcement officials ordered the dogs to be euthanized immediately if no treatment could be done. After making many calls, we found that no vet in China has the knowledge or means or willingness to treat my dogs. It was extremely hard for me and my family to face the fact that we had to end our dogs’ lives while they were still seemingly healthy. I called Southpaws for help despite the fact that I’ve never been to the hospital before, Dr Lorna made calls to her veterinarian colleagues around the world and came back to me with critical information that I needed, with an incredible amount of care and patience, and she wanted nothing in return…one of my family dogs is no longer with us, but I’m forever grateful for Dr Lorna’s kindness and professionalism in helping others. Honestly, I’ve never felt so supported through my dog’s cancer treatment before.
Helpful ReviewThe surgical and medical team are amazing. Paul is a very sweet, genuine and thorough medical specialist. I can’t praise him, and his team, for the knowledge and support they’ve given me through this rough time.
Charles is incredible with his surgery and did an amazing job with my boy’s palliative care surgery.
I honestly can’t thank these guys enough, I wouldn’t have my boy right now if it weren’t for them. Though his time is limited, he’s here, happy and more comfortable.
I had to take Firin back to the surgery as he wasn’t doing too well after surgery. When I called, they said to bring him straight in, he needed care and they also were concerned for me and thought it would be good for he to have a decent sleep as well. They are really incredible.
My boy is now gone, he was never going to be fixed, if it weren’t for Charles, Paul and the dedicated team at South Paws, I would have lost him so much earlier, the extra time with him was so very much needed.
Thank you guys for everything.
