High quality pastries, sandwiches, pies, sausage rolls. It’s a pretty neat cafe in general. You can’t go wrong with Peninsula Pantry. Been going there for years and it’s been consistently great.

I’m sure the staff are lovely and a great place for non-vegans, however I came here after reading a review stating great vegan options with an array of pies and sweets. Came by today and there was nothing vegan to eat here.

Beautiful Pies, sausagecrolls, tarts and salads. Very tasty and very fresh.
Sampling vanilla slice, lemon meringue tart and flour less chocolate cake later.
It is well worth a visit.

    We researched top cafes Rye
Peninsula pantry was one of the top reviews.
We came for brunch, we ordered and seated ourselves .
After 5-7min the young man who was telling everyone he’s going to Europe served us came to us apologise the chef didn’t realise there was a order and would be around 10min.
    Ordered
    – eggs bacon toast
    -Advo smash
    -A pie and 2 drinks
    Totalling around $60 (1 adult 2 children)
The food was nice, an extra slice of toast with the advo smash instead of 1 you’d expect paying that much .
Cost of living has gone up but,
Found it way to expensive for small meals for 2 kids and an Adult .
Won’t be back unless we win the lotto .

    Breakfast @ Peninsula Pantry.
    .
Well-known to locals in the area but off the main travel routes, Peninsula Pantry is a homely cafe, serving hearty home-cooked dishes and pastries made using fresh local produce.
    .
The Cinnamon Roll (AUD $4.50), also known as Cinnamon Scrolls, are large fluffy soft bakes, with cinnamon spread across the inside spiral roll of bread, glazed with icing sugar. Served warm, the cinnamon roll perfumes each bite with aromatic sweet spice bready flavour, so satisfying.
    .
We’d heard that the Vanilla Slice (AUD $4.50) was a must-try here. In fact, this vanilla slice is among the best we’ve had. The thin puff pastry crust sprinkled with icing sugar is crisp and flaky, shattering beautifully to reveal the creamy wobbly soft custard flavoured with vanilla. With its bright floral sweet buttery flavour, this vanilla slice exudes a luxurious, decadent feel.
    .
To start, the Meat Pie Beef Bourguignon (AUD $7.50) here is larger than other meat pies, bigger than a palm but smaller than an open hand. With a crisp buttery crust that yields easily, the meat pie beef bourguignon contains tender beef steak and carrot chunks, and a rich generous bourguignon gravy made with red wine, tomato, and shallots. This has lovely robust smoky meaty vegetal earthy sweet savoury salty herbal flavour, very nice.
    .
Loved the Free Range Eggs With Spinach & Bacon (AUD $19). This simple breakfast had fluffy creamy free range scrambled eggs with eggy sweet savoury flavour, crunchy blanched spinach leaves with vegetal sweet herbal bitter flavour, and chewy pork back bacon with smoky meaty salty savoury flavour. Dressed with parsley, this dish of free range eggs with spinach & bacon was yummy.

Recommended by locals, and tourist friendly as well. We got the breakfast item of scrambled eggs on sourdough toast with side order of spinach and bacon. Tried the burgundy beef pie, sausage roll, cinnamon scroll and vanilla slice. For drinks, I tried the latte.

Lovely pie, served warm. The sauce was delicious. Scrambled eggs can’t be faulted, and perfect with the spinach and bacon combo. Vanilla slice and cinnamon scroll were good as expected.

Kudos to Jean-Luc (or John Luke?) for taking care of our table, and lovely to chat with ya. Thank you.

Would recommend this place for their friendly, family vibes and delicious food.

Never again. I have never been made to feel so awful and embarrassed in a place where in the past I have always enjoyed. As a visitor from Melbourne – pre Covid- my daughter and I would always make a special trip to Peninsula Pantry when staying with my parents who live in the area. When asking the young man whether you had powdered chai – not only was I ridiculed about wanting it, but he kept insisting that I try the homemade blend and that I would like it. First of all if you are asking for powered chai – as distasteful it may be to others – it is extremely unlikely they you would like the herbal stuff. I quietly said no thank you but he kept insisting and even after saying no thank you a third time he wouldn’t listen and kept insisting. It was only after I am assuming it was the owner, popped her head through the bakery window because believe me should would have heard this guy insisting, that she suggested a hot chocolate. By this stage I just wanted to sit down and eat my lunch and just said yes even though I didn’t really want it. Lunch was a rice ball which was pretty tasteless – needed salt and a pasta salad – again just ok. I was eating as fast as I could as I just wanted to get out of there- when all of a sudden I heard a lady from the other table – in a really loud voice, compliment the guy on the wonderful chai latte and that it was the best she’s ever had – I’m sure it was for my benefit!! But to add the biggest insult to injury – when she was saying this he turned around and said “oh I wouldn’t know – I’ve never had it” I couldn’t believe it!! He was trying to force the stuff on me and he hadn’t even tried it!! I have had such great memories of this place but I will never go back. No skin off your nose I suppose – I can see you don’t respond to reviews – seems like someone else has complained about it but you haven’t done anything about it.

Great pies and pastries, friendly service, best vanilla slices anywhere.
While this cafe is tucked away in a residential area, it is well-known and often busy – don’t miss out.
