Donut Cavoodle
Before training my dog was shy around other dogs, now he is confident and calmly greeting other dogs when walking, I have also found he has become less anxious overall.
The class had different dogs and owners, all with their own questions and Basil was able to answer them all and gave everyone great tips and tricks to help with the training.

We have taken both our labradors to Basil & Command. The first 12 years ago who we now realise was fairly easy to train. The second, Connor, who is now 11 months old, has been a very different personality, confident, with boundless energy & a mind of his own! Basil and the team have helped us greatly & given us loads of tips. Connor is calming & gradually becoming a lovely dog thanks to the care & attention from Basil. He is still a work in progress but thanks to Basil we feel we are on the right track.

Jeffrey attended puppy school, basic obedience and is now trying his best to pass his intermediate levels.
I have learnt so much through this process with thanks to the trainers at Command.
We have a character on our hands, he has a tiny aggressive streak that rears it’s head ever so slightly every now and then. Amongst all the great obedience lessons, Basil has taught me the skills to identify and lesson the opportunity for these known triggers to upset Jeffrey and the little guy is improving week on week on week.
I confidently walk Jeffrey off lead through dog parks, let him run with his mates, all the while confident that his training will mean that when I call him, he’ll be back by my side quickly.
The consistent approach to training, the support Command provide to us as owners & the friendships my dog, and I have made in the year we have been attending have been invaluable.
Looking forward to many more years of training with Basil & Command!!

We have been sending our dogs to Command for ten years, from puppy to mature dog. They have a great time socialising and learning and the instructors are always very helpful. We have had dogs in the past who have suffered with anxiety issues and have received a lot of help and guidance from Basil and Command. They take dog care very seriously and are always ready to hear feedback. I confidently recommend them to anyone who needs dog training.

Our 3.5 year old Berner loves his training here. After graduating his Basic Obedience last year he is now partway through his Intermediate training. He gives the instructor his undivided attention the whole time and has learnt so much we can take him to restaurants and friends houses and he is always welcome. And we really appreciated the online zoom during lockdown where we learnt new skills. It’s one of his favourite places

Just a shout out for Basil and his team at Command Dog Training School. The consistency of care and skill they have shown to Raffy our Wheaten Terrier from 3 months to 1 year has been excellent. Basil also trained our first Wheaten 30 years ago, so it’s great to see such ongoing passion for the dogs and owners he trains. Raffy is thriving with his training and is loving agility. He loves going to training every Saturday and we come home very happy. Thanks to all.

We had one on one training with Command a few years ago. The training was so rough our dog suffered anxiety afterwards. I didn’t leave a review at the time. Later I discovered a frenchie puppy Bailey had been held down until it died by one of the trainers. I regretted not leaving my review. I am leaving this review now as a friend has informed me she is signing up with Command and when i told her about our experience she said i should have left a review. This is a terrible experience for your dog to have.

We just finished up our 3 week kindergarten puppy school which has been amazingly fun by Liana. She was super patient with our cavoodle and the group in general. Always taking time to answer questions and trouble shoot issues we are having at home. Thank you so much for the effort you put in!!

We have been waiting on our phone company to fix the problem as we can’t seem to change our message nor receive calls consistently. Hi Leanne. I feel disappointed with your 2 stars and review. I recall that was the first Saturday we were able to run classes at our Oakleigh venue after almost 12 weeks of lockdown. We had to juggle some classes including your class. We had emailed about the change of time and unfortunately know this was short notice. However, we did organise a 30 minute private session for you as a make up lesson of week 1. Further, the class was small with only 3 people (normally up to 8) so not sure why you felt it was overpriced. Happy to discuss further so please call on 98776522. Best wishes Basil

Liana at Command Dog Training rocks.
We are amazed at what a difference Liana made to our Basic Obedience Training results with our darling Lucy.
Liana makes training fun, she understands our furry kids as well as us, who find these sessions as educational as the our pups.
Liana tailors her approach to each individual and focuses on the things that count.
And she does it with care, love and subtlety.

I am so thankful for Liana and Command Training. I have recently adopted a rescue dog and was at an absolute loss of how to deal with her anxiety and reactiveness. But after training Thursday nights with Liana there has been a massive improvement (bonus the training is indoors at Hoochy Poochy). She is a much calmer dog to walk and has improved in every area. She seems so much happier in herself too. Also attending Hoochy Poochy day care a couple days a week and knowing Liana is there with her too is such peace of mind. Cara, basil and everyone at Hoochy Poochy have been so helpful.
I would highly recommend Liana and Command Dog Training. Such a massive difference in my rescue dog!

Use with caution
I have been tossing up for a long time now as to whether I should write a review or not, but have decided my experience needs to be shared.
I contacted Command Dog Training to assist with some food resources guarding with my pup. I paid for the 1 hour session to come to my home.
The technique the trainer used was “punishment” where they were forcefully handling my dog, pushing his head to the ground and dragging by the colour and then closing them off in my bathroom for “time out”.
At the time I was uncomfortable with this technique but figured they were the expert and went along with it.
The session only lasted half an hour and said we would do another half an hour session at another time, and I should continue their techniques and keep my dog in time out for half an hour if resource guarding.
When I tried it that night, my dog was so distraught he was shaking and peed on the floor which he never does.
I decided immediately to stop and passed the feedback on to the trainer and they have not been very helpful with other techniques, or following up or booking in the second session (which I wouldn’t take up anyway).
So basically, I am $220 out of pocket for a half an hour session of distressing my dog.
Since then I have approached an amazing reward and love base trainer who I have already seen amazing results with.
So be careful when choosing this company and discuss their training techniques first.

Top level dog training, highly experienced & knowledgeable instructors. Class numbers are capped so everyone gets sufficient help from the instructor and they are always happy to help with any behaviour problems as well as answer any questions. Training classes are conducted at multiple locations including an indoor facility. I can confidently recommend Command dog training, and say they are an industry leader in the field of dog training from puppy through to advanced level training.
