Very grateful for PVS when our local vet of nearly 2 decades (and several other local vets) said they were fully booked & couldn’t see our 18+ year old cat, who developed a sudden and acute UTI this morning. They were able to process bloods and do an ultrasound onsite, and were very reasonably priced for an emergency visit. Glad I know where to call if this happens again

I had to bring Walter my partners German Sheppard X Poodle in for emergency care as he had some very worrying blood test results and was very lethargic. The team at PVS took such great care of him and the specialist who worked with him was absolutely incredible. Walter is now home and doing much better, very impressed and grateful for the entire team at PVS, even the receptionist gave me a laugh.

    Highly recommend!!!

Two months ago they told us our beloved girl was cancer free. On Sunday our little princess took her last breath at 2:20am.

In the beginning they gave us hope she could be saved and her lifespan extended with treatment. They said it would be expensive, we said do what you can to save our little big girl, we will pay whatever it costs.

After our girl finished her treatment, no follow up phone call, text or email to inform us of the outcome.

After I enquired about her results, an appointment was made and from that, her bloodwork showed our girl was doing well and NO MORE CANCER. We cried from joy and celebrated that a new beginning awaited us.

But last Monday we took her to our regular vet who gave her diarrohea medication and antibiotics and also did blood work. Bloodwork results sent to PVS, 3 days passed only for PVS to tell our Vet an ultrasound was urgent, they couldn’t do it because they were full.
Got it done in Bayswater, the ultrasound revealed a growth on her spleen, but the image was blurry and they needed a further $450 for to complete a FNA.

Results sent to PVS, they spoke to our vet and we were insructed to give her Zyrtec and antibiotics. Why didn’t PVS call us? They knew our girl, she was still on medication from PVS.

Rang PVS the next day (Last Friday) we were told PVS could see us the following Thursday. I begged with them to fit us in earlier as this was urgent.

No one offered her strong pain medication. Our little princess didn’t deserve the pain and suffering she went through.

How did they get it SOOOO WRONG?
To tell us she was cancer free and then dying from cancer 2 months later.

Please be wary of this Vet, the LACK of COMMUNICATION is DISGUSTING.

Why did they say they could help us? Instead her quality of life was ruined in return for an exorbent amount of coin.

    RIP our Sweet Angel xo

PVS do not REPLY to me, your words have No Value and are Meaningless.

It was a Sunday in late February and I needed a specific medicine in a big hurry, Lauren answered my call for help and nothing was a problem. I arrived, collected what I needed and was so relieved. My baby girl was in good hands and Lauren couldn’t have been more helpful. Thank you for being open on a Sunday and for being so lovely Lauren!

At around 12:30am on Sunday morning, my almost 20 year old little side kick began to deteriorate rapidly so we rushed to PVS. Being involved in animal rescue/foster and being a vet nurse many years ago, I have seen some horrendous clinics with equally horrendous staff. Not PVS though! They were kind, caring, empathetic and nothing was too much or to difficult for them to do. Today I received a hand written card and an ink paw print from my boy. Such a beautiful gesture that I will forever cherish. I cannot thank you enough for making such a heart breaking event slightly less heart breaking.

We consider it our privilege to work with the lovely people and pets of Perth, and although we know how intense Sunday would have been for you and your family, we are glad to have been able to take what sadness we could out of your experience. We are sorry for your loss, but are sure that Kody will be looking down on you all with love and thanks for all the happy times you shared. Our thoughts are with you. Take care, Team PVS

Jess and her team with the oncology department honestly changed our lives. Cancer is such an unpredictable thing, at first I remember being frustrated at how vague the time frames for our boys’ survival were but in the end I came to understand that even in humans the information is the same. How your beloved friend will take to treatment is not predictable. For us, this was a gift. With Jess’ help we got a beautiful two extra years with our boy. Good years too. Most dogs would have lasted 2 weeks untreated and up to nine months with conservative treatment but Graham surpassed all expectations and was happy and thriving for an extra two years!

Of course the options aren’t cheap – human ones aren’t either – we’re just lucky to have Medicare for us humans. So be prepared with your insurance or to know what might be looming as far as finances, for us, we had insurance and the gap payable was achievable. Along the journey, whilst my boy was oblivious and happy the whole way through my heart ached to know what might be looming, it’s a trying time for the whole household. Whatever course of action you take, know that you’re in good hands. It’s an unpredictable journey – in many ways, but for us, it was worth it. Jess and her team changed my life and enabled us the send off that Graham deserved. I attach a photo of our boy just two weeks before his final decline, two years post diagnosis. Happy as a pig in mud – well – a lab at a river.

Take care, good luck. Trust your instincts and be kind to the people helping you.

Albert is an amazing oncologist. I want to thank you for your amazing advice and kind nature and support during our decision making time. I felt very safe to ask you all the questions I had and your handling of my much loved dog during the appointments made me feel really grateful. You always gave your time freely and on the phone as well, and in today’s world your service and personality really stood out. So, please accept my greatest thank you for making me feel reassured during some of my darkest days of saying goodbye to our pet. The reception team were also great when making appointments and getting back to me.

I won’t be bringing my dog here again. Since the changes of staff I’ve not been overly happy with service. Some of the receptionists are rude and unhelpful at best.

I took my boy here to have have blood work as well as for his paw to be looked at which was still not fully healed from a few weeks prior. I was told to use their recommended tropical spray and that the dermatitis specialist had a quick look at the paw.

I didn’t realise it at this time but the large dark patch on his paw was not a scab it was signs of early decay. His paw got progressively worse and when I called them to have him admitted they told me to wait a few hours for the emergency vet. Despite me saying he was bleeding. They told me to take him elsewhere.

I took him to Balcatta 24/7 (who are amazing) and was advised to amputate his leg to give him the best chance of survival.

I had to call and ask for his file to be shared twice that evening as an emergency and by 6.30am the next day they still hadn’t sent it and I was told they sent it to another vet when I was very clear where to send his file.

Previous to this I had a receptionist swear and curse at me because of departments error.

Then in addition my boy was refused medication for his epilepsy when I’d ran out on a public holiday.

Luckily my local pharmacy was helpful.

One of the vets in medicine was also quite rude and questioned why I had let his paw got bad when I took their advice and used a spray that did nothing to solve the issue of his paw! It’s just an absolute disorganised nightmare of a place.

That said some of the staff are lovely and have been lovely to me as well but I’ve had enough bad experiences not to be going back. The old staff and receptionist were lovely though.

    Absolutely disgusting.
My friend took her sick cats here to get them some help. They took the cats in and made her sign a contact. Then when she came back to check up on them, they said that they weren’t giving them back! They kept the cats for a whole week. If I could give them zero stars I would. My friend was able to contact someone from SAFE who told her that the Perth vet specialists’ staff were giving her wrong information and wrongly holding her cats. The SAFE staff was able to bring her cats back. All this so that my friend could make sure her cats are okay. Watching my friend emotionally struggle all while trying to find legal help was disheartening. I hope no one else has to go through something like this.

All the oncology team at Perth Vet Specialists have been absolutely incredible with their advice, treatment and information. Email responses have been within a day and they have always been caring and compassionate. Furthermore, they’ve always considered what the best options are and and haven’t recommended further testing if it’s not essential, thus reducing the costs involved.
Wally and I thank you for the support.

I?ve referred friends here and will continue to do so. Sometimes your reg family vet is unable to assist and these guys should be your next call!!! Highly recommend them!

On the whole a great service.
I do think it very poor form that they charge $90.- for a post surgery check though. Even for human specialists, this is a free check to see the results of their own work.

I regret taking my dog here for his last few months before he passed away. After doing some research and speaking to another vet after my boy passed we are pretty sure he had a tumour. Very disappointed that this was not even mentioned once in the 4 months we started coming here that it could be the cause of his seizures and was not offered MRI scans until the weekend he passed. Also devastated I had to say goodbye to him outside of the clinic in the side alley at night!

Our Kelpie pup had swallowed a metal beer cap and we new it was a bad situation. I rang a few vets but most of them would not even give me rough estimations of how much it would cost unless we took him in to them. I called AEC and got a very different response. Jamie on the reception was lovely and she said send the ex ray to Dr Louise and I did. Dr Louise then sent me a detailed email to let me know what she recommended. We were going to do an endoscopy (which was going to cost about $2000 – the emergency vet in Wangara wanted $3000 for this procedure). They had to make him vomit again before they could do the endoscopy and thank god the bottle top came out and he appears to have no issues at all now. It still ended up costing us about $1000 as we went to three vets but now I wish we had gone to AEC first. I was so impressed with the caring, helpful, empathetic attitude of both Dr Louise and Jamie on reception. I would highly recommend their service anyday. 10/10

ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING you do not offer payment plans for people when there pets are in critical condition!! My friend is now forced to put her cat down because there are no payment options available. How the hell is someone meant to fork out over $2000 for her hurt pet when she is on carers pension.
