As a dog owner, you have rights and responsibilities both to your pet and to the community.

Always obey any signs regarding dogs and when and where you can allow them off their lead. Dogs that are taken off their lead must remain under control of a person at all times. At times you should carry a chain, cord or leash to restrain your dog, dog owners must remain within effective voice or hand control distance of the dog at all times. A person in charge of the dog must not allow the dog to chase or threaten another person or animal.

The most common dog complaint is about dog droppings or dog waste on footpaths and in parks. Please ensure that you remove and dispose of your dog’s waste in public places.

Always remember to be respectful in open spaces as they are used by dog lovers, sports lovers and nature lovers.

It’s a great spot for sports, and gets used extensively for soccer training. It’s also used well for running and other sports. It could do with more purpose built pathways.

Melville Council has spent $9m on upgrading Shirley Strickland reserve now how about demolishing the old 70’s Len Shearer clubrooms including the male and female public toilets. There is only one sit down cistern in the male toilets which is always blocked. If this is the same for the female toilets then I feel sorry for them.

One of the City of Melville’s parks, used by many community groups and the community. Well maintained, plenty of shade and off street parking. Great spot to kick a ball, walk the dog or met a friend for a walk.

Well maintained soccer pitches and oval. Not sure if the dogs need to be on leashes in this park.
