Terrible in store experience. Visited in the middle of the day and there were boxes and rubbish from the staff everywhere. I almost tripped and could not push my trolley around AT ALL. I only came in for a few things including frozen food and surprise, the freezers were COMPLETELY blocked off! (See photo). That was the last straw and what made me put everything in my trolley back on the shelves and leave. I went to another pet store and won’t ever be shopping at petbarn again.

Although I live nearby Petbarn Coburg, I would still choose Preston as my store. The staff are super friendly and helpful. They wouldn’t mind spending their time with the customer and showing me some great tips. Shout out to Ky, is the best sale person I have come across. She was very patient with my dog, didn’t try to talk me into buying things as other sale members. She only recommended what needed and honestly told me what I don’t have to buy. Thank you to Ky. Years ago we had a cat with chronic UTIs who regularly urinated outside of the kitty litter. We went to many vet appointments, had her on tablets and antibiotic injections, morphine when she was excruciating pain, and we were thinking of consulting a cat behaviourist. I happened to mention this to a women behind the counter at Petbarn Preston and she suggested changing the litter we use from silicone crystal to clump sand. She said our cat might find the crystal litter too sharp on her pads. It worked! After countless hours, money, frustration, cleaning and caring for our poor kitty’s, her health concerns it turned out would significantly improve within a few months of changing her litter from crystals to clumping sand. We can thank the friendly person working at Petbarn Preston (not the Vets who cost a fortune — though obviously Vets are an essential with the care for any animal and they helped our cat when she needed in the most!)
Yesterday, I went to Petbarn Preston to stock up on kitten food for our new cat. I was chatting with the women who was serving me (and again we were talking about the flushability of different types of litter). She took me to litter area and explained the different types of litter, discussed price points and gave me her personal experience for what she uses for her 5 cats, as well as info she’d heard from animal experts. She happy looked at pictures of our new kitten and made a big fuss of how cute he is, she priced matched items I was buying after I found the same products on a competitors website and she even chucked in a few free samples of treats for kittens. Oh, and then she helped me to my car with all my purchases. She did all of this at the same time as observing COVID safe rules. Thank you!
Petbarn Preston is one of those special store that doesn’t feel like a massive chain store but a small community pet store. Though I haven’t had a bad experience with any Petbarn, the Preston store definitely shines brighter in comparisons with other Petbarns.

I bought two feliway refills today and was so impressed by the service I received from the staff member that assisted me (a woman with dark hair who mentioned she has 4 cats!). Chatted to my mother afterwards who also attends this store and she also mentioned how fantastic this woman is. I don’t normally write google reviews but she was so incredibly friendly and helpful that I wanted to jump on here and give her a shout out- lovely woman.

Would just like to say how impressed I am with the same day delivery as well as the two delivery staff who dropped off my purchases. I’ve had problems with delivery drivers not delivering even when I’m home all day if the buzzer decides to stop working, but yours called to let me know they were here. I have had a bad experience with my mini schnauzer’s groom. I found that they didn’t really listen to my requests and the end result was awful. Her cut was choppy and her ears and top of her head weren’t done at all. Her bottom was shaved, but then the hair around was still long. It was a really poor effort. I’m so upset, especially because when I went to make the appointment the ladies seemed lovely and the dogs that were in there that day looked great and happy. But I have got a half done job that I am now needing to tidy myself.

I went in today to purchase my 2 year old son a pet goldfish. I was quite thrown back when the sales lady refused to sell me one as she said I mush have a tank as opposed to a fish bowl -that I already had. Then when I took my pup in for her regular groom, she had a bad grass seed in her foot with a wound I didn’t see. Brie cleaned up the area and the vets from next door came and looked at her quickly (another kindness I didn’t expect).

Also we signed up for their loyalty program to get discounts on the prescription pet food for our cat, but turns out you don’t get discounts on prescription pet food. Good job on getting us to sign up though.
