Not happy with the service. I went to the counter to order coffee and the waiter asked me to sit on one of the tables and they’ll bring the menu. Waited for 30 mins and no one turned up and people came after us were served and we were never attended. Not going there again.

Sad to know that staff are not treated well here. It seems the owner needs a bit of a reality check; it’s thanks to your own employees that this place is up and running. If it wasn’t for that this otherwise beautiful cafe would’ve had my full support!

If you’re looking for a good spot to people watch while enjoying a leisurely brunch, Tusk is a great choice. The food is noteworthy, though you will need to wait a bit to get it. The service is very polite, and the atmosphere is casual yet chic.

Helpful ReviewSat down at a table that had heaps of stuff left on it from the previous diners, but we liked the location (out of the rain). The wait staff came and put our new menus on top of all the crumbs and scraps and we couldn’t believe that we had to ask her to wipe down the table – then she wiped all of the crumbs and scraps off the table and onto our bags that were beside the table. That was a really weird moment and we were pretty shocked by the cluelessness of that… maybe if the cafe invested in paying more experienced wait staff other than gen z then that would be a terrific start.
Next I couldn’t hear my client I was there with speaking due to the unnecessary blaring music outside and had to ask a few times for it to be turned down.
We’ve been going to Tusk each week to meet up but each time there is an issue with service. We won’t be back.

I used to work at Tusk and if I can suggest one thing it would be for customers wanting to tip their waiter or waitress, it’s a good idea to give it to the waitress directly as Francis, the owner, NEVER distributes the tips in the tip jar to staff and instead uses the money to pay for things in his café!
And no, what the owner says below this comment is untrue.
I have spoken with all staff about this and none of them even knew what to tell me when I asked about the tip situation!
If he distributed tips based on merit then the owner must think none of his staff deserve tips because the jar is full of $50 notes that no staff have seen a cent of so customers clearly did think we are deserving)
Here’s a thought. Maybe treat your staff with respect and they might actually WANT to do better and want to be there!
It’s really not that hard of a formula and forcing them to eat your food (at discount rates or not) is just plain wrong on top of never spending a cent to fix up all the broken things in that restaurant would make their lives easier since you claim to value your staff so much!
Too busy driving around town in your 6 sportscars including a frikken McClarren to bother with these little details I guess. Charging me for food I didn’t even eat. If you have to steal from your own staff then that says it all really!
But I understand you’re incapable of taking ownership of feedback like an actual adult would!

Hadn’t been here at Tusk for years, and cannot understand why I didn’t come back sooner. Excellent coffee, eggs and the mushrooms on brioche toast was delicious. Friendly service, and a relaxed, old school Chapel St vibe.

Used to love this place but it’s got a weird vibe now. The owner/manager is super creepy and I feel like the staff are unhappy.

In any case it’s my opinion and that vibe was part of my experience of being in the restaurant. The whole purpose of reviewing is to share our experiences and this was mine. I am sure that can be understood and respected.

Tusk has something for everyone. Great brunch options including pancakes as well as a huge variety of pizzas and pastas – totally a fan of the seafood linguine 🍝🦐
